Interns are generally part of the Gateway Program. You can read about that on the Cape Air Jobs website. The get trained and fly as FOs in the Northeast, and work with the various departments doing intern stuff. After their internship, they build time at their school flight instructing, and come back to Cape Air to fly as a captain. It's a paid position, but not sure how much. Unless you are a college student (or a very recent grad) it's not really an option.

Hey Folks-

Have thought about applying with Care Air for years..... Been out of flying (full time flying I mean, but have stayed current) for about 3 years. After all those years of thinking about it, I had a chance to fly on Cape a couple of months ago, and I though the type of flying they do looks like a great challange and alot of fun.

Are they still interviewing and have classes open?

I am an "older" pilot (49) and this would be a terminal step, not wanting to go to the majors. I dont have a degree, but am working on it online.

here is what Ive got:

LICENSES AND RATINGS

FAA Airline Transport Pilot - Airplane ME Land
FAA Commercial Pilot - Airplane SE Land
BE-1900 type rating
EMB 135/145 SIC type rating
FlightSafety trained on the BE-200 and BE-1900
FAA First Class Medical
Current US Passport

FLIGHT TIME

TOTAL TIME 6827 SEL 2737
MEL 4090 JET SIC 1086
TURBO PROP PIC 1679 INST 1038
PIC 5247 NIGHT 2908
CROSS COUNTRY 5112

Worth a shot?

I'd say go for it. If you truly want to fly with us as your final career step, they'd be happy to have you onboard. The great thing about having the "lifers" is that you have that many fewer pilots to train in the future. We have hired as you say "older" pilots in the past.

Why do you want to go from Republic to Cape?

Cape Air doesn’t fly jets and crunching numbers in a FMS is about a 180 degree heading change from hand flying single pilot IFR in a 402. More than a hand full of RJ FO’s have struggled in training. I would recommend highlighting your PIC experience prior to RAH.

Check your PM's. And read below.

The secret is, well, there's not much of a secret. Just make sure you send an email with your resume and application to the recruiters email address. It doesn't hurt to follow up every now and then via email, but if you have ATP minimums, and you pass their pre-screening (background check), they will call you, don't worry. There are only two people, both of whom are First Officer interns, so it may take a little time, but they will get back to you. As for how I know all of this, one of the recruiters is sitting right next to me...

Had been calling the two recruiters often, but they never answer or call back.
See my previous post.
