That is exactly the point. There are people that depend on their honesty now have the choice to sign a training contract with no advance notice and no time to have a lawyer review it and for more money than they make in a year OR be back on the street.

It gets worse...
Ok so it's not just 1 year 30k it's for everyone regardless of time the year doesn't start until after upgrade and there is no promise in the contract as to when that will be. Not pro rated.
And the checkered flag for the race to the bottom goes to cape air.

Watch out!! Beware!! New hire class starting today they were told no training contract but on day one they are making everyone sign a $30k training contract without any advance notice. They literally waited for everyone to show up to class and then sprung it on them last minute. This is the lowest of the low. People there likely turned down other jobs to go to cape air and burned those bridges. This is on par with those companies hat make you pay for your training. If they would have been honest with these young pilots up front then that would be different but this is the lowest of the low. Cape Air I thought you were a quality company but a stunt like this is messing with people's lives. You should be ashamed. Pathetic.

It pretty much says stay away. A sign of desperation. Usually companies try to attract and retain pilots with incentives. Cape Air believes in threats.

For a presently working Cape Air pilot, PLEASE:
1. Where are the junior bases?
2. Is the $30,000 one-year commitment presently being required of new hires?
3. How often does the company displace Captains to another base?
4. How long are your normal duty days?
Thanks!

2. Yes...stay away.
3. Not often. Bid every 6 months unless a vacancy bid comes out which is pretty much monthly. People are pretty good not bumping you out of a base. I've only heard of it happening a handful of times. A lot of junior guys are TDY all over the place also.
4. Duty days are typically 13 hours. By the end of the week, you are exhausted and fatigued to say the least. Especially when its -20 or +90 outside.
