I was hired as an FO back in February 2016 and have been waiting for a class date ever since.
It seems that training has been suspended until September due to the pilot shortage they are experiencing. Ironically, they had to pull the training pilots out to fly the line.
Currently trying to find a flying gig until Cape calls me with a class date.

They are hurting due to not enough pilots to fly the line yet let pilots who can be trained to fly the line and alleviate the shortage languish. They should be training all the pilots they can. They can train more pilots between now and September than they have trainers. That makes no sense!

Yes, definitely makes no sense. I think there are 10-12 other new-hire FOs in my position.
The March class date was filled with only 3 pilots and the April class date has been finalized.
Class dates will resume in September and hopefully there will be more than 3 spots in that class. I can't imagine waiting around any longer.

WAIT...your saying that they employ pilots because the need them to fly the aircraft that they have...then put them on reserve for months and they don't fly ??

Talked to a recruiter today.
"All hands on deck" is pretty much what he said. He is pretty sure that there will not be a class from April to September, but he also said that things can also change. There won't be any interviews from that periods also.
That what I heard today.
