Now, we all had RJ or turbine time to go along with the 402 PIC. I doubt anyone will go to a legacy directly from 9K, but every knowledgeable pilot I've ever talked to has the utmost respect for 9Kers. 402 PIC won't fill the check box on the HR evaluation form, but when you get to the interview, and especially the sim ride, it will open eyes and doors.

And in the meantime you won't have to eat Ramen noodles 3 meals a day.

PS - Bentley, you are soft.
Gotcha. Fortunate enough to be at SkyWest and avoided ramen noodles all together
But JetBlue, Virgin and Spirit don't have sim evals.

That's because they hire systems managers, not pilots. Piloting skill is negatively correlated to operating an airbus.

I am trying desperately to get a call from Cape Air, but haven't heard a peep. Any advice/tips/tricks for getting a call?

Hard to say for sure, but there's a new hire in MAZ for the summer, and the next most junior guy is a 03/26/12 hire who is based in EIS. If they are holding that base now, they will most likely be able to hold the region year round...

How much time do you have? I know for me, it took almost six months to hear back from them, then I spent another year in the hiring pool after that... Just keep checking in with them if you can. I think it's probly just one guy running the recruiting office, unless GS is still helping out with that, so be patient!

But, who wants to be in the Caribbean in the summer? It's pretty hot down there. It's a lot nicer in New England.

Thanks. I sent an email asking some basic questions about openings etc just to see if I could perhaps flag my name. I'm at 2500TT most of it 121 turboprop and jet.

I had sent my application and resume to Cape Air repeatedly and I didn't hear so much as an acknowledgement that they received it over the course of 1.5 years. I was finally able to land an interview with them this past June because I was introduced to one of their pilots who walked my stuff in for me. I was hired into a pilot pool and said to expect a class date sometime in September.

It seems that Cape won't really look at you unless you have close to 1,500TT and at the very least your ATP written done, if not your ATP certificate already. Either that or it may be helpful to know someone...

Interesting, thanks. I have the written and have avoided taking the ride only in hopes that I could get someone else to pick up the tab.
