That's why you don't see SouthWest doing this regional type hops.

True as well.

Basically marketing dictates route structure and equipment choice.

Yes and these high volume short hauls would be perfect for the ATR's and Dash's. I remembering seeing the fuel burns from KCLT or KGSP. Both planes do the run in about 21 minutes. Dash 8 300's series 50 peeps burns fuel around 700 pounds. EMB 145 50 peeps around 1300 pounds. The Turbo Prop short haul is the best way to fly segments under an hour. However once you leave that 1 hour window you start to see the Regional Jet make that up in time and speed. But under an our you can't beat a Turbo Props generating ability. Too bad they will slowly go away in the AAG market.

There's a reason AAG wants us to keep flying these Dash 8's until they time out. And that's because they generate a bunch of revenue. Period.

Yes we have a flow through. Which you don't interview or test. You just wait for your number and go to class. If you meet the requirements you can apply and American is still interviewing these people and offering jobs.

Two options.

ostensibly, a 'minimum' of 3 per month of hiring or 36 a year

c. AA commits to offer in seniority order to Piedmont pilots, in each calendar year, the lesser of (a) twenty-five percent (25%) of all New Pilot Positions filled (subject to standard rounding) in that calendar year, or (b) three (3) New Pilot Positions (increased by 1 for every 125 pilots above the base number of 350 on the Piedmont seniorty list) times (“x”) the number of calendar months in that calendar year in which AA actually hired pilots for New Pilot Positions. For purposes of this Letter of Agreement, a pilot will be deemed “hired” by AA on the first day he/she commences training. For example;
i. if the Offer Commitment begins in August 2014, and AA hires a total of 35 pilots for New Pilot Positions during three (3) calendar months between the effective date of the Offer Commitment and December 31, 2014, inclusive, AA will have complied with its Offer Commitment if it made no fewer than 9 offers (i.e., the lesser of 3 offers x 3 months, or 25% x 35 pilots) to Piedmont pilots in 2014.
ii. if the Offer Commitment begins in August 2014, and AA hires a total of 60 pilots for New Pilot Positions during five (5) calendar months between the effective date of the Offer Commitment and December 31, 2014, AA will have complied with its Offer Commitment if it made no less than 15 offers (i.e., the lesser of: 3 offers x 5 months, or 25% x 60 pilots) to Piedmont Pilots in 2014.
iii. if the Offer Commitment begins in August 2014, and AA hires a total of 85 pilots for New Pilot Positions during five (5) calendar months between the effective date of the Offer Commitment and December 31, 2014, and, there are 475 pilots on the Piedmont seniority list, AA will have complied with its Offer Commitment if it made no less than 20 offers (i.e., the lesser of 4 offers x 5 months, or 25% x 85 pilots) to Piedmont Pilots in 2014.

d. The following conditions apply to AA’s Offer Commitment in any given year:
i. The Offer Commitment will be fulfilled based on offers made to Piedmont pilots for New Pilot Positions, regardless of whether the Piedmont pilot fails to appear as scheduled for an assigned new class hire date, or fails training. For example, if AA has an Offer Commitment for 27 Piedmont pilots, and AA makes offers to 27 Piedmont pilots, but one pilot fails to show for training and three pilots fail training, AA will have fulfilled its Offer Commitment for that calendar year.
ii. A Piedmont pilot who is offered a New Pilot Position by AA, but who thereafter fails to remain eligible at Piedmont up to the date of his/her assigned release by Piedmont will forfeit his/her offer of employment under this Agreement. The forfeited offer will count towards AA’s compliance with its Offer Commitment. For example, if the Offer Commitment is for 27 Piedmont pilots, and AA makes offers to 27 Piedmont pilots, but two of those pilots who have accepted the offer and who were eligible for New Pilot Positions under this Letter of Agreement fail to remain eligible, AA will have fulfilled its Offer Commitment for that calendar year.

So if you go there today and are willing to wait 10 years to flow to AA you are all set.

That's about right, Its a good deal for people who have the seniority at this time, But for new hires its still a long time. Sounds good for recruiting, By the way where are the new jets ?

Well Pdt would be a lot more appealing with some sort of a hub base. If I were them I'd just try and recruit around each little town where they have bases.
