Don't go to PSA. I'm not gonna rant about them here. Just don't go there. Reserve rules are garbage, management, and flow is realistically 16+ years for a new hire. Not even close to going from 5 to 6 flowing. We're actually negative captains. We would be at 4 if the language didn't protect a lesser number. To name a few..
We offer one of the best qualities of life that you can have at any regional.
And 16 year flow? You must not be very good at math! We have added about 30 active captains in the last 3 months, and are upgrading close to 30 new captains a month.

Good thing that new hires are only on reserve about 2 months right now. And how many regionals have you worked for? Our reserve rules are not even in the bottom 50%.

Provided it's still an option. Here today and gone tomorrow. The only flow you can guarantee is the whiz you take and even that can slow to a trickle at any time.
On a brighter note, it seems PSA is a pipeline to Big Daddy Delta so if that's your goal you might fly for DL way before you fly for AA. Not a bad deal at all

TSA is okay. It's another regional that is trying to find pilots. It's not as terrible as what some on here make it out to be. Average 14-15 days off a month with high 80s-90s of credit. People make it seem like you never get paid correctly which isn't true. I've had it be wrong but it was simply the 150 percent wasn't added to an open time pick up and a 4.25 min day wasn't added on one day. 6-8 ppl upgrading every month from here on out due to a shortage of captains. Upgrade just over 2 years to 2.5 years is realistic. Can't say much about PSA. People I know over there that are line holders don't complain much and those I know on reserve are looking at other airlines. I hear the SAP is pretty nice to have. Best of luck with your decision. If you re forsure commuting I'd look at every base both airlines have and try to select the one that has the best commute for you.

I spent time at TSA and left for PSA. The primary reason was being able to sit short-call reserve from home and 45 miles to DAY. I turned down an upgrade because it would be in ORD, TSA converted long-call reserves to short call as soon as they were legally able to and I had a PSA job offer in my back pocket.
I don't know if TSA has changed the way they're handling long-call reserves. I upgraded in less than a year. Upgrade is 2-2.5 years and we're running two classes monthly. I teach the next upgrade ground school and have 12 in it.
I can compare the EMB-145 to the CRJ-200 and prefer the CRJ. There are quirks about each airplane and some things I like about the 145. Overall, IMO, the CRJ is more reliable.
TSA has some models of the 145 ( the EP) which can't handle a full load of passengers with an alternate. The CRJ usually can take a full load of passengers.
Since DFW seems not to be an option for you, PSA has bases in CLT, TYS, CVG, DAY and DCA. AA has two daily flights to DAY plus one Mesa CRJ-900. Everything between CVG and DFW is Envoy/Mesa. Avoid commuting if at all possible. If not, your best bets may be CLT or DCA. Don't forget IAD if you get the DCA crew base.

Haven't seen an EP in a year. I think they are all gone. All we are flying now are XRs and a few LRs and 90% of flying is the XRs on the United side. I think all the AA birds are LRs. Haven't been on reserve in a while so I can't comment on that or the length of Reserve. Pay issues are chronic, but we are *hoping* rainmaker fixes it next month. Chief Pilots and DO are all great guys and will do everything they can to help you. You just need to decide what are the most important issues to you personally and go from there. For me QOL and Pay are the two most important, but others may disagree. If you can live in base do that, but keep in mind you can always get stuck where you are for a while and bases can close on a whim at the regionals, so even if you have to commute it might be worth looking at one carrier over another due to the contract.
