And second, you mean to tell me you honestly believe that all decision making authority of a DO or VP of Flight Ops is delegated to some cubical elsewhere?
Ok, whatever.

There is a grid that is posted on here each month by an ALPA volunteer that shows how long it takes to hold a Round1 line (so you can SAP), as well as long call and short call reserve.

Some bases, about a month after training. DAY and CVG are the most junior FO bases. CLT is about 6 months right now.

I just finished IOE, so I have been here since February and missed a round 1 line by about 12 people. My guess is that I should be able to hold round 1by August, and I'm DAY based. I would say 6 months total of which 2-3 months you will be in training. Conservatively I would bet about 3-4 months after training that you will be able to SAP.

You're talking out of your @ss, I can tell.
Of course, there are a lot of decisions that are kicked upstairs to DFW, as it were, but there are thousands of day to day minutiae that are left to those in the building, and being able to work with those guys cordially is priceless.

Trying to decide between Skywest or PSA at the moment (yet to submit the app to PSA, planning to this week).
Any thoughts/comparison's that I might not be aware of? I'm not as knowledgeable of PSA, other than the pay and SAP.
Skywest would be nice because a fairly quick upgrade. I'm willing to move wherever, but would prefer Chicago, since that's near family and a good hub for travel. But the pay is less than I make instructing, which is hard to swallow...especially when moving to a more expensive city without a roommate lined up.
PSA...is CLT the most junior? I don't really know much about the city. What's the upgrade like? Anything else I should be aware of? How long does it take to be senior enough to make good use of SAP? How useful are the American flight benefits (or what problems have you run into)?
I'd like to work in Chicago for Skywest (primarily due to location, upgrade time, and seemingly okay work rules). But money talks! And other than money, PSA seems pretty good.

Also, you mentioned family "near Chicago." DAY is also near Chicago, or an easy commute from there, and as of the latest Round 1 awards, people are getting that just out of training in DAY, which means you can use the SAP.
PSA is also a fairly quick upgrade these days, and the flight benefits on American are very good. You could be a SAPing FO in DAY and use the flight bennies to travel the world from ORD.
Let me know if you have any more questions or want a referral.

What do you mean, "other than money, PSA seems pretty good?" As far as I know, our FO compensation is better than that of SkyWest. Something change recently?
