So say you’re an FO for 45 days of that quarter and then you pass your captain PC on the 46th day. You should get 90% (45/50) of that quarter’s bonus.

Keep in mind past experience doesn’t guarantee future results. I assumed i “should” be getting that much of a bonus based on the language in the LOA, but it wasn’t 100% clear. I was actually surprised i got it. Usually when there’s even 1% of a gray area the company usually interprets it in their favor and i have seen in the past where pilot A might get one thing and pilot B gets nothing even though they’re both in the exact same scenario.

I would say you should get it, but don’t get your hopes up.
Just curious, when does the quarter begin and end? How long after the quarter is over until the bonus is paid?
Thanks!

I was hired before they came out with the retention bonuses so I fell under a different calendar of which April 30th was the last day of that particular bonus. And to be clear the LOA refers to it as an “eligibility period” and not a quarter.

If you were hired after May 1, 2016 you’re on a different “eligibility period” calendar. Right now we’re on the July-September period. So if you haven’t been forced to upgrade yet come September 30th then you should be paid your full bonus for that period on October 20th. Although, it says the company can wait till the following paycheck on November 5th and I’ve seen that happen at least once or twice when I was an FO.

This is all on page 3 of LOA 10-6-2016 in mymobile365 under the ALPA tab.

Although, this problem isn’t unique to PSA, I will say PSA is probably one of the worst offenders. I can’t think of any other industry where you almost need a law degree to figure out what you get paid. I think we have either 6 or 7 pay and bonuses structures based on when you were hired, and what qualifications you had when you were hired. It’s ridiculous. Anything to keep from paying a marketable wage.

By full bonus you mean the 20K or the 2500?

2500. Just for that eligibility period. Depending on how many days you were an active FO for that period you can be paid a prorated amount of that 2500.

I think if you’re there at 50 days of that periods payable quarter then you receive the full 2500 if you’re upgrading or whatever.

Correct. You’re prorated if it’s less than 50 days.
