PSA or Republic (PHL Desired)

Hot reserve is indeed a big deal even if you live in base. 8 hour stretch for 3 days in a row is a huge hit to QOL. I get used maybe 1 out of 5 times on HRV and most of the times I get used, they assign me a flight 3-4 hours in advance because they are out of SCRs. If you do come to PSA, expect to be on reserve for at least 7-12 months after training and then if you do upgrade at 1000 hours, expect another 2 years on reserve as a CA.
But that being said, living in base makes reserve slightly more tolerable. The pay is alright and overall things seem to be headed in the right direction.

Hot reserve is really no big deal if you live at a reasonable distance from base just treat it as you are going into work as a 9-5 job but aren’t doing as often.
As a commuter, it sucks...... It’s all perspective. You can plan on upgrading around the 2 year mark with no 121 time. Right now Captain reserve is increasing, that’s due to guys chasing lines until they can hold a Round 1 Lines in CLT...

I'm sure you'd rather sit in the comfort of your own house than sit in the airport waiting for an assignment. Again, a lot of QOL issues are being addressed and I've faith in the union and the company to resolve many of these issues and like I said, things are headed in the right direction at PSA.

Precisely. Mainline has always made by without them. Most of the LCCs don’t have them. Republic doesn’t have them, and they seem to do just fine operationally. If there was no hot reserve I would not mind reserve living in base. And yet I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that the company was approved to add more hot reserves? Could be wrong

Yes, an increase of 175% in CLT and 200% in DCA if I remember correctly. When you look on airportal and find out Republic does better than us for D0 and A14 on an average day, you really wonder if having HRVs does anything. All it comes down to is planning ahead vs. putting out little fires at a time.

So I know this may be a little off topic for the discussion about PHL, but it does involve a decision between PSA and Republic.
I've posted similar things here before, but have an opportunity that I need to put serious thought into, and need opinions.
I am a 500TT CFI and 19 years old, living in the Greensboro, NC area. I have been in the Pilot Prep Program since Sep. 2018 and really (really) like Republic...
I recently had an opportunity to interview with PSA for their cadet program as the flight school I work at is a partner. I'm headed up to DAY in a couple weeks to complete my final interview for their Senior Level. PSA just announced their $7,500 bonus to cadets (and if you don't take it now, you just don't get it-- this is completely separate from the sign-on bonus.) So my question is, should I commit right now (being 1.5-2yrs out) for the $7,500? Or, stay in both programs, but eat the $7,500 and see how things look next year around this time?
I feel like it's too early for me to commit, and I really am not sure which of the two I'd go work for. CLT is only an hour away, so living in base with PSA would be a lot easier and makes mores since in terms of that, where as with RPA I would likely re-locate to an outstation base or commute. However, I haven't really heard much negative out of RPA pilots and hear very good things about their contract/QOL.
Thanks for the help!!!
