what kind of information have you guys heard on the line?

Nothing really. Everyone is still trying to understand why we're hiring again whenever we're overstaffed and the loss of the 200's.

I think perhaps there isn’t much to understand. I personally don’t think we’re getting any airplanes from anywhere. AA is in no position to be buying aircraft and if they wanted to do that there have already been opportunities to do so. Instead we’ve seen them not add any aircraft to PSA’s fleet to prevent furloughing over 700 pilots just a few short months ago and we’ve also seen 6 E-175s slated for Envoy go to Republic instead. If anyone thinks that regionals won’t light money on fire as fast as it’s given to them you’re wrong. Perhaps there simply isn’t a good reason for the hiring.

Has anyone on the line heard of how many we are hiring? I still am so baffled by all of this lol i have very low expectations of anything positive happeneing here.

Just bits and pieces of hear say. I flew with a captain who brought one of the 200s to the desert. One of our mechanics was out there. Partly to help pickle them and secondly to pick through what was out there to bring on property, what he was told was it was just too expensive to acquire and bring online.

Heard OO offered to buy us late Q4/early Q1, but AA had no interest in selling. Also heard OO doesn’t have any desire for more 700s and it’s going to turn into a 175/700 swap once their 20 are in AA paint. Again all of that is worth as much as what the FA heard from her pilot boyfriend who parked in the same spot as DF once.

the earnings call will be interesting, and I think come June a lot could happen. With all those strings and loopholes in Mesa’s new CBA, it makes one think.

not a damn thing, we’re trying to figure it out while we scratch our heads as much as everyone else.

im hoping we’re at least looking at some of the European carriers that fly the crj as well. Sure it
might be tedious with compliance checks, but I’d imagine it’s not as cost prohibitive as spinning up airframes from the desert that sat there 5,10, or who knows how many years without moving.

If AA doesn’t see any positive trends for the summer they’ll declare bankruptcy sooner rather than later. They aren’t just going to keep burning through cash at the rate they currently are until they hit the liquidity floor their creditors have imposed. I’d expect a filing by May/June if Spring Break and summer bookings aren’t looking strong. And I’d guess that with no uniform standards for providing proof of vaccination international travel will be difficult until nations work out some sort of system. And not to mention the incredibly rough start the rollout of the vaccine has been. AA isn’t going to be buying planes from anywhere anytime soon. Why assume more debt when you could have SkyWest or Republic assume that risk while still providing service.

The whole hiring rumor could just be a ruse to get pilots to accept the recall so you will not be short come summer.

I mean it’s not just a rumor...guys are getting class dates.
