Looks like quite a few came to PSA to be DEC's, but realized how bad it was going to be, so they left for an ULCC. Pretty easy to get hired at ULCCs these days if you have any previous 121 time.

The problem right now with direct entry captain says that they cannot train new captains fast enough to run out of indirect entry captains.

I have a friend that started class at United this morning. Says that there are 9 pilots from PSA in this weeks class.

The number going to United is certainly higher than AA.

Question about the study packet they give you before indoc.

To my understanding I should only memroize whatever is in bold, and whatever is in red correct?

1. For example the engine cranking limits in ground are all in bold, but the engine cranking limits in air are not in bold. Only memroize the one for the ground?

2. And for example, cabin depressurization checklist, there are only 3 things in red "oxygen mask Don and 100%, crew communication establish, captain assumes PF duties", the rest of the list "advise atc, etc" is not bold or red. So memroize only those first three in red?

Hey there,

July 2021 hire here.

1. Yes, you are only required to memorize the engine cranking limits on the ground.
2. Correct, this applies to all immediate action/memory items. Only the items in red and above the dashed line. Everything below the dashed line is not considered an immediate action item and is not required/nor encouraged to be recited from memory.

Best of luck!

Default Big News

I’ve heard from multiple crews that there is some “Big News” coming this month. I know that nothing is definite until the company announces it and it actually happens. But does anyone have any guesses as to what the News may be. I’ve heard a pay raise, PBS, new commuting Policy, merger, staple, etc.

Just curious to hear any ideas

PBS is a big a concession and a big L. PSAs MEC better bring home a whale of a deal to hand over what the company most desperately wants to kill.

Throw DFW base in the rumors too - supposedly AA doesn’t want Mesa anymore and Mesa wants to drop AA flying to grow cargo
