I Love PSA

Don't know if you read my post wrong. I agree with ASA 100%. They said enough is enough and started Havoc. We shouldn't go 5 years before we learn what they did. We need to act today.
If you believe that no picking up open time is the answer then so be it. But respectfully i dissagree. Open time is costing Management, they want it to stop. The best way to bring pilots back is too increase costs. Open Times does that. That is why they are stopping us from doing it. And that is why they are bringing pilots back, to put a stop to it.
Striking will not work today. Havoc will.

Well first off i haven't been able to pick up open time because of the new contract that management has written.
Second, striking will only help repubic get our flying and we will just close the doors. US Air has 11 Express carriers doing our flying and legal or not they will get others to do it. A Strike, as much as i would love it, wouldn't solve a thing. Just get Airways to close our doors.
The answer is HAVOC. Just what ASA did. They are my hero's and they got a contract when they said ENOUGH! And noone went to Jail.

If it were true that they would shut us down in the event of a strike, then fine. I'll ride this place into the ground. I'd rather stand up for better work conditions and lose than sit here and be treated like dog.

Seafeye,
I re-read your post, I did read it a bit wrong, my mistake.
The no picking up open time can be debated, but essentially most feel that the company bases reserve staffing needs on the amount of open time (averages) for the month. That being said, if we increase the amount of un-covered trips to where they are maxing out RSVs, they might furlough one or 2 less initially, or recall a couple.
However, I definately see your point. The argument can be made for both sides.
As for the line in the sand, I did mis-interpret your comments based on the above difference in thinking. My apologies. Stand together, and yes, havoc makes them see quickly. Hell, just writing up every problem as it happens, the number of dead lightbulbs, low fluid quantities, and the bigger stuff as it happens at outstations rather than doing the co. the favor to save $ and get it back to a hub with MX, costs tons. No waivers, no favors.

Well as much as i would like a strke as well, it just won't happen. The RLA is very clear as to how we could go about it. And the time it would take to strike is way too long. I hope Sully has luck with congress and we can change to a Airline Labor Act but until that happens we are all stuck working under a Employer biased Labor Act. All we can do is abide by the contract and the FAR's. Just writing up broken airplanes when it happens is a huge headache for management. HAVOC TODAY!

Tex is that you? You never struck me as a Union Man being from the Republic of Texas and all. Why the turn around from your union bashing rhetoric? Picking up open time is a PSA pilot's right. You want to make management happy, don't ever pick up any open time and you instead are helping them dole out Continous Duty over nights to reserve pilots who are going to do it for no extra pay and never make over 72 hours pay for the month. We put our open time rules in the contract for a reason.. to reward pilots who want to go work a little extra and to help pay our bills. Again, if you can convince all pilots not to pick up open time, you'd be management's hero for the month.. hell for all time I guess.
Actually not really true the SDO pay was put in there because nobody was picking up open time. And it was a way to get people to pick up open time.
