The Useful PSA Thread

CVG will not operate like a traditional hub. AAG already has plenty of those. It's just a base for maintenance routing and since the hangar will be large enough, it will support enough pilots to make it a crew base as well. I would expect a lot of frequency between CVG and NYC/CLT and then running the hub/spoke model from one of those cities. This is how Republic has been doing the AAG flying in Chicago with pilots based in MCI/IND.
The airport board has actively pursued service from other carrieirs to replace the service cuts by Delta. Before shutting down Comair, Delta was severely cutting back services in CVG. That was due, in large part, to the merger with NW and the proximity of CVG to the DTW hub.
I think we'll see service to all the hubs and some service in former Delta/Comair markets.

There are no plans for AA to do any point to point flying out of CVG, the only AA flights will be going to AA hubs. PSA is opening a crew base there because it saves money on hotels and facilities versus having only hub bases.

Thank you. Don't know why some are losing their minds, it's just another weird regional outstation base. No diff than Ind/Cmh/Sdf/Mci/ for RAH or Pdt Dash outstation bases or Tys/Day for Psa. Perhaps just consistently bigger equipment but same ol' 1st/last leg to/from the hub and rarely see Cvg again until the end of the trip. DH crews half the time to the hub to pick up flying there especially reserves, just another inefficient outstation base from brilliant regional management...stepping over a dollar to save a dime, 10 cents at a time

Yup just another outstation base with uncommutable 16 hr 4 day trips. I remember seeing something that said Envoy will use either PSA or Timco MX in CVG for their 175s so that probably rules out DFW and the new LGA flights will be operated by RAH for now so it looks like only CLT, DCA, and PHL flights.

I'm sure you gained that insight from all your years serving in the Marines? You show your ignorance by calling them troops. Please keep covering for the companies failures. This deal/plan has been in the works for a long time. This base opening has been known for months by management despite their attempts to play smoke and mirrors with the pilot group to keep it secret. Management should have had a plan in place to notify their employees before they put the announcement on blast. This is just another sign of the utter contempt that the company has for it's employees.
Why wouldn't they announce it as soon as they could? How does it benefit the company to hide it? If you knew about their plan for months then I guess it wasn't a secret was it?

In the near term, PSA is only getting another 24 planes (besides the remaining 3-4 coming from Envoy). Those 24 could be spread out through the PHL, DCA and LGA networks without opening up a hub crew base. It's likely the 24 900s will be split three ways between PHL, DCA and LGA.

The only cities PSA will probably serve out of CVG are CLT, PHL, DCA, and maybe LGA. I think LGA is more likely than ORD right now.

I mean envoy is still operating out of LGA past November, just no base. Waterski has been doing some AA stuff also, but there is no other reduction from rah/Awac/pdt in LGA....probably just more 900's in Phl and dca I'd imagine
