It might be just a guess, but my money is on TYS closing at some point in the next 12 months. It might not be right when CVG opens but I'd put my money on it shrinking and closing at some point. It's too bad for all the TYS lifers.
Sure it could. And how much will it cost the company for involuntary moves? And just think about all of the people in CLT or CVG t that will be bumped down by the TYS crews. So please close TYS.

You are probably right. Although we will have more 700/900s than 200s so the majority of the sim work will eventually be in CLT.

Eagle does most ORD/DFW. No way PSA will do all that.... One carrier doing so much in one city isn't smart business. Especially with the number of flights AA does out of CVG.... One PSA staffing issue, computer, work/contract, etc would essentially ruin 30+ flights a day out of a city...

I can tell you closing a base like TYS won't do anything good for PSA in terms of staffing, and attracting new hires.. I wouldn't doubt there would be a loss of CA/FO/FA's and that would send PSA back to square one, understaffed with ****ty performance.

Good luck closing a base.

And yes, 4 planes overnight in TYS, where overnight mtx is also done.

They have as many overnight in CAK, because its a mtx base.

...and what would happen with a staffing/computer/work/contract, etc.. issue do in CLT? 30 flights a day? Try over 100 flights a day!

30 flights a day is not a big deal and AAG would have no concerns having a single carrier do that much flying out of a city. Look at the amount of lift that single regionals provide out of other cities.

The truth is, CVG is a huge market and AAG can make money there. They can use it as a starting point to provide flying out of DCA, IND, and ORD. The rent is cheap, and the airport is welcoming AAG and PSA. There are facilities there, and it is a fairly decent place to commute to/from. With the added flying that PSA will be doing, CVG will be a one leg commute from dozens of major cities.

Also, AAG wants to start using the 900's as a platform for longer flights (thus the introduction of the meal service). Expect 3-3.5 hour flights out of CVG on 900's.

Where would we go out of CVG that is 3.5 hours away?

Well, if you went East, it would be somewhere in the midatlantic, so that is doubtful. My guess is West. There are many markets for an East/West service that do not require an Airbus.

I think the part in missing is, do you think we're going to fly from CVG direct to some where that isn't a hub?

CVG will not operate like a traditional hub. AAG already has plenty of those. It's just a base for maintenance routing and since the hangar will be large enough, it will support enough pilots to make it a crew base as well. I would expect a lot of frequency between CVG and NYC/CLT and then running the hub/spoke model from one of those cities. This is how Republic has been doing the AAG flying in Chicago with pilots based in MCI/IND.

Comair did CVG to COS, DEN and MSP. Those are just what I remember off the top of my head.

Also flew to IAH and DFW. Those were longer than two hours and done in the -200 as well. We might see service to MIA.
