I would remain skeptical, the engine manufacturer would not want to admit fault if their fadec cooked one, or their engine suffered from heat damage due to poor craftsmanship and materials. The airline would be more than willing to file the overhaul cost on their insurance as damage, just like hanger rash. Everyone wins if the stupid pilot did it.

Well this is all Autopirates rumor, but I don't believe that in the entire CRJ Fadec fleet a toga has never been left in the detent. If it happend before and didn't destroy an engine you can't definitively say this time, that's what caused the engine problems. I am sure they just stopped looking when they found a deviation from policy.

Faded safeguards itself from being left in TOGA. Ever seen it happen or done it yourself? When you finally realize it at 10,000ft or so and pull it back into climb, the N1 remains the same and just goes from purple to blue. No reduction in percent. Because the fadec has already realized the issue and corrected for it. Plus if this was an issue management would put out an email immediately. You don't fry an engine and them not immediately inform the group of how to not do that. That's a lot of $$$ for them to not issue a safety bulletin or something along those lines. To be honest tho, I have yet to hear of these incidents you talk about and I stay pretty informed with everything around here.
