Excellent, thanks! Do you recall the name?
Premier fitness. It should be free, was free when I went to ground school. But regardless if it's not, $25 ain't bad. They have a ton of equipment.

The one that I have heard of people using is Anytime Fitness. Not sure where Premier Fitness is. The hotel has tried to negotiate a deal, but the gym said they couldn't due to some liability reason. (in other words, they like making $$$).

Leaving for the January 5th class next Friday... Driving up from JAX over the weekend before class starts. I have a few questions myself and some of the other newbs are hoping to get some answers for:

Does the company pay for air fare to/from training?

Is there much to do around the area on the weekends? I will have my truck if I need to get around.

Good place for a haircut?

Good grocery store?

Any advice for those of us whom will be working towards our first jet type/airline job?

Can anyone tell me if CLT is still attainable right off of IOE and if there are any updates to how long some guys are sitting reserve?

Should I spend the money to update my foreflight subscription and will my personal ipad be usable once I'm flying?

And lastly, I've spoken to some guys in the early January class, but if anyone else wants to, feel free to PM me.

They can/will positive space you to and from JAX to any of your training locations until you have been given a base. But only at the begininng and end of a training cycle. (e.g. GS, Sim, IOE)

Dayton isn't a hotbed of activity, especially this time of year, but there is stuff to do. Go see the Air Force Museum, it will kill a day off.

Good place for a haircut?

Can't help there

Good grocery store?

If you're at the Clarion, Meijer is right across the street. It's a midwestern Target. The Fairfield has plenty around it as well.

Maintain a good attitude, be a clean slate for your instructor(s), and study. Also give yourself time to decompress on weekends and days off, there is plenty of time to learn everything.

Expect at least 1-2 months possibly in DAY and TYS. Good news is reserve times are shorter in those bases. Also a strong chance of a new base being announced sometime soon, where or when, I have no idea.

Save your money on first year pay. iPad Jepps will come eventually and you can't use your own charts under Part 121. If you're not familiar with Jepps, start getting familiar with them. You can use your personal iPad for company manuals though, all will be made available in PDF for you.

They'll pretty much positive space you anywhere you need to be.

A visit to the National Museum of the Air Force should be considered mandatory. Get there right when it opens and register for the bus to the X-Plane hangar, or whatever it's called.

Google is your friend.

The Clarion has a Meijer next door; I don't know about the other hotel.

Best advice anyone can give you.

No idea. Apparently CLT can be had pretty quick, you'll probably spend the longest time on reserve in CLT though.

Ever hear of Jepps?

Thanks guys, I have been studying my Jepp plates and feel pretty confident with them. I was thinking of using foreflight/stratus as just another tool to help out in the cockpit. Wx, progressive taxi, etc... That thing comes in pretty handy sometimes.

Also, how short of notice before your class date did you receive a travel itinerary? Those I've talked to in the January 5th class haven't heard a peep about it. I figured with the holidays it probably wasn't a high priority for them, but I'm hoping I hear something by early next week.

I'm going to PM you in just a minute but wanted to let you know I inquired about the travel and was told we will be space positive from home and for any other travel and to expect a follow up email regarding travel next week.
