Yeah, if we're going to get college loans forgiven I want my mortgage forgiven too... frankly I need a place to live more than most of these people need a BA in underwater woke basketweaving.
Also I need a few years of my life back from obligated service from my military college scholarship... they can just write me a check for those years, base pay at my highest final rate.

I don't see why the public thinks major state university's should be free from the federal government.
Add one year to high school and teach AP, shave 25% off the cost of college. 3 years are cheaper than 4. Makes too much sense.
Flight schools get approved for tax free mogas, raise 100 hour inspection to 200, with a light check at 100. Put C-152s back in production.

Have had the pleasure of mentoring a young Amish man from Indiana who decided he wanted to be a pilot. He was educated to the eighth grade level, customary in Amish order and became a carpenter. As he obtained his ratings, we were under the assumption he needed a HS diploma or GED for the ATP. He did study hard and obtained a GED.
He is a very hard worker, super contentious and polite. The next step was to get to an AA wholly owned, to get the flow as we were not sure how long it would take to get the college degree. He has decided to get that degree. He is presently at one of the wholly owned, PSA, progressing very well. He recently told me his mother apologized for taking him out of school, as she realized it was a huge obstacle for him to later overcome. But it was simply how life was conducted in his order of religion.
So, obstacles can be overcome if one puts time and effort in.

“Most Junior CA Award: (SFO) 737 - Hired Fall 2015”
4 year upgrade. Mandatory retirements aren’t even close to in full swing yet.
There were people on here before I went to college that would’ve said a 1.5 year upgrade at a regional was insane, never going to happen, and that the pilot shortage is a myth, and yet I got my 4th stripe almost 18 months to the day from passing FO OE.
At least with United AVIATE, a less than 3 year stay at a regional is possible now, and I know quite a few peers of mine that ended up at Delta less than four years after starting at a regional. Plenty of people going to spirit and frontier, and those payscales are still going to give doctors a run for their money the first ten years or so.

Oh wait, I forgot the government does pay for education even past high school...... GI bill. Enlistment bonuses, the Military Academies. But weirdly they have a need beforehand and you volunteer to fill it if able. Can’t see things functioning well on the pathway of individuals deciding what’s fun and then making others pay for it.

But for those who just want to do a degree that will allow them to party for 5-6 years while stalling their entry into the work force at public expense... No thanks, not on my dime. I actually need my house more than those people need an all expenses paid vacation to recover from HS before hitting the real world.
