Mesaba new hires

If you can put up with the crap on the ramp in a hub everyday, you probably will manage just fine putting up with the crap in the plane. And it will even pay better after you upgrade.

good luck, but don't fly there unless you have a reasonable chance of flying jet PIC within five years. When you get furloughed from MSA or elsewhere, or you move on and then get furloughed, you will need jetPIC and Time in Type to get a job....
Mesaba is retiring its saabs, and furloughing. Delta is playing airlink carriers against each other. They will probably not be receiving aircraft in this economy for a long while. The only "regional jets" delta wants now violate their scope restriction. Your chances of jet pic there are slim....

Well this is not related but I just got selected to be one of the flight ops interns starting in January. Im pretty excited, hopefully the guaranteed interview comes in handy once I get my "competitive" hours. Any pointers from you all? Besides run the other way from aviation because I've heard that from a lot of pilots including my own father who is a pilot but unfortunately I can't see myself not flying... so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I'm curious if Mesaba interns are unpaid? At Skyw they are, which I think is pretty weak. I'm not going to recommend leaving or not getting into aviation, just the usual advice that I'm sure your dad has imparted. Get a non-aviation degree, work hard, and keep your eyes open. Good luck!

Mesaba interns are not allowed to jumpseat on revenue flights. However, you guys get to play in the sims every once in a while. Mostly it will be secretary type work.

If it was like my Internship, you won't be allowed jumpseat, but you can get a standby ticket round trip once every 30 days you work. This was at NWA, so not sure if Mesaba does that as well.

For the internship, you'll get one pass for every 30 days you work. But this clock only resets after you use the last pass issued, so if you sit on it for a while before travelling you can cheat yourself out of another pass.
