That’s what I thought, so who cares what your diploma actually says? The date should match your transcript, that’s all that matters.

according to Seneca you need the diploma. I took mine, frame and all.

No need for transcripts.

So anyway....just when can you check the box? Is it after completing your final exam in your final course? After receiving your final grade in your last class, or not until actually in receipt of your diploma?

To play it safe I’d say the last of those 3, but of course if allowed earlier, I’d jump on it because you just never know when the phone will ring.

Thoughts?
You will have an official graduation date from your school. It will be the same as what's printed on your diploma (degree). On and after this date you can say you have your degree. Claiming you have a degree before this date is technically false, and although a degree may be required for a particular job I would say most companies care much more about total honesty than if you have a degree or not. Just wait till the official date of graduation, not worth it to do otherwise.

when the majors start hiring again in 2025 you will have likely received your 4 year degree by then.

I think it would be reasonable to check degree as soon as you are sure you will graduate. It can be explained during the interview. Any reasonable person would accept this.

^ Bad advice ^

HR is anything but reasonable. To them it will look you lied to get an interview then changed it after. Just remember: if 19 other people in your interview didn’t have that issue then they’ll get the job. Just the way it is.

I disagree but that’s all good.

I agree that this is all kind of silly. On all my apps I just put 31DECXX because I graduated in December. I am sure I could find the date I 'walked' but who cares. I have had 3 RJ job offers, an LLC, 2 ACMIs, and a legacy. No one has ever even mentioned my undergrad degree other than to ask how professor X is doing. Once you have confirmation that you are graduating - check the box, and put the last day of the month. Congrats on the degree!

Correct. You cannot hand a prospective employer your transcript. Too many forgeries in the world. Either they send directly or you have in a sealed envelope to give them.
