I don't doubt a handful of furloughed Comair pilots have displayed a sense of entitlement. A portion of those furloughed (and still on property) have never experienced tough economic conditions as adults...or even as children. Combine that with how relatively easy it was over the last couple of years for someone to get hired at Comair, and it's understandable where this sense of entitlement comes from.

I don't believe this is due solely to lack of character, but instead primarily due to lack of experience. I agree with bored that Mesaba has had their turn being beaten to death, and I suspect he/she would agree with me that Mesaba probably has a handful of pilots hired over the last year or two who share the same entitlement mentality as a few at Comair do.

It's a supply and demand issue... not everyone, regardless of time in type and 121 experience is going to get the interview, let alone the job. I'm sorry your MEC mislead you in to believing there is a preferential hiring agreement for Comair pilots. Even if there was, that still doesn't guarantee you guys jobs. There are lots of Comair folks interviewing each week, but Comair isn't the only pipeline for Mesaba right now. Mesaba isn't going to hire you JUST because you come from Comair. I know it's awful to be in your shoes right now, but stop showing up to the interview like XJ owes you something and maybe more Comair pilots would be getting the nod.
No we don't think were OWED the job at Mesaba trust me!! We just need jobs, were all in a tough situation but XJ seems to be a good situation though hmm wonder why....-900 ex comair, lets just chill with this so called Mesaba Comair war, were all trying to make a living and find a job , just chill, you seem to be bored , "bored".

.......Better note GO GIANTS!! 10-1

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not saying it won't happen, however this will be a very significant hit. Considering they went up from 86 furloughs to 92 furloughs, even more would be unlikely until they atleast get the others off property.

Consider me the APC guru...lol...seriously, there are more coming in early 09 unfortunately. Possibly Feb or March. Mentioned this a few pages back however to the exact number I was not advised on how many.

P1ayn: instead of guessing the number of furloughs how about applying for a new job? I don't know you personally, but it seems as though you are always very very negative on the direction (and future) of Comair. If Comair is so bad, why not apply somewhere else? We have many people here on furlough who would much rather have a job rather than complain and plot the demise of this company.

I understand from your posts in the past that your were a CA and are now an FO (If I miss understood please excuse me). If things are so bad here, why not go to Netjets? There are still places to go (although limited) that are still hiring. If you feel trapped here at Comair, say that. You remind me of why I hate going to CVG. It seems to all be gloom and doom from senior people who, although have enough hours to go somewhere, lack either the motivation, drive or finantial wherewithal to go anywhere else.

The last option, of course, is that you really don't believe this place is going to close and you are just trying to flame bait.

It's not necessarily negative if it's fully true. P1ayn has been spot on in most if not all of his statements on this forum.

I heard it from the usual way rumors are heard..from a guy who heard it from a guy

If you would like to discuss this in person I am more than happy to oblige and provide my point of view. That being said, I do not need you or anyone else for that matter to advise me on what direction I need to take. My personal opinion of Comair is just that, MY personal opinion. First off I NEVER GUESSED or stated the number of furloughs just that there were more furloughs coming based on my source. As for my opinion, I have been here long enough to develop this opinion and even more so have a right based on the history of what I and EVERY pilot has experienced. Whether every pilot feels the same as I do that's their right, as it is MY right to feel as I do.

My posts have provided information to assist other pilots in the upcoming events whether positive or negative. Unfortunately, lately it has been more towards the negative. The negative tone you speak of is not provided by myself rather by the company. All I have done is relay the information. The latest furlough rumor that was mentioned I pretty much collaborated with based on my source that has provided me VERY accurate information for the last two years. If you wish not to believe this information, that is your decision. To insinuate that I am spreading doom and gloom and provide negative overtones on Comair; believe me Comair does not require me to do this, they are doing a good job of that themselves.
If it makes you feel any better, not that I personally care, I have been, currently am, and will continue to seek other employment. My goal when i started flying 18 years ago was not to retire at Comair.
In addition, for your ill informed knowledge, NET Jets is also possibly furloughing in the near future but as of now are not hiring. Nonetheless, I do not need or appreciate you on advising me to seek employment. I may not be the happiest pilot here but who is? But I would seek to find anyone who has flown with me that has not had a good time nor can they say I do not promote a professional atmosphere. I may not cherish Comair, but I do have pride in my profession.

I remind you on why you hate cvg? If so, that bodes well for me. I have been in both JFK and CVG frankly no difference, just hate the airport in JFK so you can have it.
Been in this industry a long time and your childish accusation with the ridiculous advise reminds me of the stereotype snot nosed kid that is upset because he/she did not make captain in the 18 months they were advised. If that is not accurate then just erase the 18 months part.
Next time you decide to attack someone with false accusations and ill informed advise, I suggest you gather your facts.
I'm done.

From what I was told; from the same source that has given me my accurate information, There will most likely be more DISPLACEMENTS in the first quarter of 09. Unknown of the exact number.
The reason being is way back when displacements started with fleet reductions, staffing was based with attrition in mind. However as everyone is aware, that attrition is not occurring as the economy suffers. So DL/Comair has to revamp the numbers hence the displacments and furloughs.
Block hours are being reduced and now from what I was told will average bewteen 16k and 17,500 hours depending on season and month. The upside to that if there is one is that it settles and displays some sort of stableness in our block hours allowing comair/DL to re-evaluate the strategy and future.

Information being displayed is from gathered resources and not necessarily the opinion of the writer.
