Comair updates?

If we're losing more airplanes, comair is offically DONE...
I really want to know what this DS bid is for, cause it's probably going to be my ultimate decision maker on what is going on.
IF, we're getting more planes...great..maybe things will turn around
IF, we're losing more planes...I don' think anyone can deny that Comair's flight operation is finished, or going to be so drastically reduced until the senior folks retire, that it's not worth anyone staying around.

i would have to say that we are losing more airplanes, thats what the trend has been in my year and a half here, and i dont see anything different. talk amongst yourselves.

Well maybe this has to do with the closing of Concorse C in CVG. And your flying (Furlough Comair pilot, not my flying anymore) will take a hit in the first quarter of 2009 because of it. I can come up with a lot of scenario to make me feel better but the fact is THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!
Keep us posted on why this bid happens.

True. We are either losing more flying... or the head counters over in the GO got their head count wrong on the last displacement bid. Lets hope for the latter, but I fear the former. I'm hopefully going to Mesaba later this month... good luck guys. I'm going to miss flying with a lot of the guys at Comair; a great group that I'm sad to see this happen to. We can only hope that things eventually turn around.

My guess:
1. More Captain downgrades (we seem to still be a little "fat" on them--per Comair standards)
2. 70/90 base opening in JFK (or even DTW/MSP for that matter)

Then in Jan 2006 a bunch more went back to lessors. Then more went away with the RFP in 2006-2007. Meanwhile Delta is leasing planes to Freedom and SKW for $1.00 a month.
Then in 2008 we were awarded the Freedom 900s and a week later we weren't. But everyone still remembers that one.
I believe you are correct- a Displacement Bid is downgrades and base reductions and such.
If they were adding 700/900 flying to JFK, or adding a DTW/MEM base it would be a Vacancy Bid.

The displacement bid was my last straw, i'm applying to Mesaba. Enough of this, I really think this airline is going nowhere besides loading the bags and changing the oil in the 50 i'm flying for Mesaba.
