If we furlough more to make us cheaper than the rest, who in their right mind would then just bring us right back. Delta is not that naive and I doubt any of their competitors are either. Even if they were and then say we brought people back, the naive legacy carrier would then say "Oh, yeah, we don't need these people. Let's furlough them."
Today is just Delta's appeal to the injunction filed by Mesa. If Delta doesn't win their appeal, it will go to trial... which I'm sure wont be for another 6 mos to a year... and you can bet JO will string it out as long as he can. If DL doesn't win today, don't count on Mesa going away anytime soon.
Everyone needs to quit losing sleep over this whole Mesa deal. J.O. is a weasel and he will no doubt find a way to get his way out of this one as well. Even if he doesn't, does anyone REALLY think Comair will stand to benefit?
That's basically what I said. If DL wins their injunction appeal today, the deal is done, they can then pull all flying from Mesa. If they dont win today, expect it to be a long and drawn out process.
That gives us enough time to watch this Mesa thing play out, and two weeks from now when nothing has changed at Comair we can walk away with confidence!
just out of curiosity...where does anything public state that if Mesa loses the injunction that they will file BK? I cannot find anything to substantiate this. No, I don't work for mesa or Comair, I'm just curious
Yeah I know, now i just need to lay low and not get cut!
We actually discussed that. Our problem was that we have continually been loosing aircraft since Ch.11 either due to lease returns or Delta taking aircraft. The company didn't trim the workforce to match the loss of aircraft. They didn't trim enough manpower the past two times to keep up with the incresesed fleet downsizing. Basically it's Delta's fault we're so expensive. I guess they don't have their MBA hats on down there!
Once the cost structure is stabilized for a 100 aircraft fleet, if more aircraft are gained and pilots and FA's are recalled the cost remains the same or decreses due to "growth" and the cost is distributed out.
If we cut more, then bring back some people, wouldn't that put us right back where we started?
