Comair updates?
Again... the NWA Airlinkers already ride behind retirees and mainline. It's not that big of a deal. What DOES suck however, is now falling behind mainline parents.
We also have to keep in mind that there is more than 1 flight a day. Not everyone lives in ATL (despite what most at DL think) and the world does not revolve around ATL (despite what most at DL think.) Just because there are now 40K more people using the benefits doesn't mean all 40K of us will be vying for the same flights. With those 40K people come more seats as well. Not to mention the fact that the 40K of us from NWA/NWA Airlink that are joining you Delta/DCI folks aren't going to be apart of some mass exodus from the territory we bring to the network. Yes... really... we're not all moving to ATL.

I live in Southern California and I know that the world doesn't revolve around ATL but if you want to go anywhere in the world... The you go through ATL.
My biggest complaint about the whole situation is, that Comair employees will ride behind RETIRED mainline folks and PARENTS of mainline employees. I would have no problems riding behind mainline folks as long as they were active employees.
Of course, I'm on furlough so I have no dog in the fight other than the fact I am now barely one step above a buddy pass, but I guess I should be thankful to have any benefits at all.

It's a two way street. We signed up thinking that we would have these benefits even if the company didn't need us at the time. We shouldn't be "thankful" in a "you're so merciful" way. (I am thankful that I have what I have and to all the crews that serve me) But I'm not going to get on my knees and pray towards ATL and thank them for my basically just extremely sr. buddy pass.
We earned what we should have had. Any thing taken away is changing our agreement.

They do say that... however there are now more options to get to many of the same places. MSP, DTW and MEM ring a bell. =)
Let's keep it in perspective. They're travel privileges, not benefits. They can change as they wish, unfortunately. Unless we can all lock pass travel stuff into our contracts to make it harder to change them, we're at the mercy of what they're willing to extend to us. You guys ARE lucky to have pass travel on furlough. When we've had furloughs in the past at XJ, they got basically nothing. When we have them in the future (too soon it seems) they'll also have basically nothing.

The new policy embargoes all buddy passes on new destinations for a year "to allow the station to serve the paying customer first." Blah blah blah... certainly you've got a friend with UA benefits. Use theirs. That's my plan.

Pinnacle got the major shaft when it comes to benefits. While we (OH) are wholly owned, and it does suck.....our benefits (while downgraded) are still better than 80% of those out there in the industry.
Having pass benefits are HUGE during a furlough. I am happy we get to keep them, even if I am a S3CR.....
I am extremely thankful that the Union worked it out for us furloughed guys/gals to keep our flight benefits!!! I like that they are fighting this too, I just wish I saw this type of fight back when I got furloughed........but then again, I guess my furlough didn't pertain to the senior guys way of life.....

When the right opportunity comes along I will go back to work. Right now I'm having fun and have no intention of returning to a crash pad in the dump called JFK.
As long as the house is clean and dinner is on the table she doesn't mind me so much.
Do you still come down to Orlando? If so I'll meet up with you on your next trip.....Time to hit the mouse, er I mean Disney.

I hear you on JFK. I remember getting up at 4a.m. walking to the bus stop in freezing rain, in the dark, pulling my bags, in uniform and heading in for a 6am ready. Those days are over. Now I get picked up for work and driven to the airport. Now, that does occur in Nigeria so there is a bit of a down side to it, but I'll take this over the JFK/Comair experience any day.
Take care, I'll let you know if I make to Orlando this time around.

The upgrade to OS (3.0) just came out. It is free. All you need to do is sync with iTunes (must upgrade to iTunes 8.2 and safari 4.0 if not done already), and follow instructions. A bunch of neat new apps. Enjoy.......
Hey Jeffdh, good to hear from you. Hope all is well in Lagos.

Yeah i don't miss those days. walking down Lefferts blvd. dragging my bags across that damn bridge to get on the reliable air train at station B for a 5 or 6 am ready. ohh and the best part was the night before going to sleep at the majestic crashpads with your 5 other bunk mates who snore like damn freight trains. and to top it all off there doing the visual to 13L.
So lets recap, i got 5 freight trains in my 15x15 room and damn 74's over head at probably 500ft. wow i miss that!!

on a positive note i did like the pizza port and the mexican food from the chinese place.
