If the proposed situation goes through where regionals would require 1500 hours and an ATP imagine what that would do to Comair. I have heard there are a bunch of things on the table that could go through. No CD's, Max 12 hour duty day, Max duty in 7 and 30 day periods, Min 10 hours rest and more. Could you imagine what would happen to the productivity at Comair. With all of the 4+ hour sits and consistent 13 hour duty days they would have to call back a lot of furloughed guys. They would be forced to build productive trips. Possibly even give them an ATP ride. Two feds so far have said possible ruling within 30 days an airlines would have to comply within 120 days. Would cost a ton of money, but I think it's about time and I hope it all passes for the sake of returning the profession to the amount of respect it deserves.
All regionals would be almost created equal. There wouldn't be a race to the bottom anymore and in fact the companies would have to create places that are desirable to work and that is the only way they will attract new pilots when the time comes.

I wonder if we will be grandfathered in. I guess if the law says they cannot "hire" folks with less than ATP mins, that would not apply to folks that already have a SN number.

Yep. Even though I am a bit short of the new proposed mins, I think it will help in stopping the 'race to the bottom'.

Like I just read on the other thread, if you don't have a college degree now is the time to get one. That will be the next thing coming.

I hope this statement happens sooner rather than later. the atp mins is a good start to fixing the problem at 121 carriers even though I'm just a little short. On the other hand, I had a interview at a 135 place and I'm thinking of how to get fired if hired.
for 30 days after your furlough date you will receive the same pass priveleges as you have now, after that, you will be listed as "retiree/other" and if you have 4-5 years, the new rampie they hired last week will bump you. but you bump their buddy on the buddy pass.
