I sure hope things will start to move (somewhat) come this Spring. If you are looking to going to a regional again, Colgan will be one of the first ones to hire. I do know that Colgan is looking at hiring for a May class date and the word is they are looking for 160 pilots total. The sad part, they got guys with 5000+ hours applying. Eagle just recalled 20 pilots, and more will be recalled after that. Doubt they will be hiring though, as they still have people in a hiring pool. Not sure why Pinnacle would be hiring, unless it is for attrition. Regardless, before we see some active hiring by the regionals, they need to first recall their currents pilots and empty their hiring pools from last year. Like I said, hopefully things will start to move come this Spring. I just can't see myself going to another regional, starting all over again making $20k/year.

Comair management is just waiting for the tank to fill before pulling the lever again.

I'm guessing the next big flush is Sunday and another on Wednesday next week.

What's going to happen on Sunday?

You’re much better off doing ATC. Stable job, good pay, good benefits, and good retirement. You can use all the money and extra time you are going to have to fly your own airplane. I would do it myself, but I’m a little bit old for ATC.

Good Luck Andy

Wish I could join the ranks of all the old Comair FOs, but like flycrj, I'm too old!

I got a 97..so I "passed"...I had asthma as a kid, it's fine now..butttttttt you know how that is.

Not to mention, I couldn't get a recruiter to give me the time of day. Hmmm....under 25, 4 year degree, jet time and 1500 total. Guess they really DID meet their quota this year.

Naw, you can't really study for it. Go to jeremyjustice.com and play around with his ATC sims..they're very similar to the ones you'll get on the test.

There's a math section that's just descent rates, and ETAs. An absurd analogy section, that will make no sense whatsoever..i think i did horrendous on it..but i got a good overall score..so who knows how much it's weighted.

There's also a box factory with numbers and colors and ridiculous questions about stupid details like "of the four conveyor belts, which was moving the fastest", and "how many boxes would you need to complete the shipment,..and of what color...and in what order would you need them".

...So mostly just stuff you're not really thinking about when you're in the middle of it..then it cuts away to ask these questions

Just read the directions carefully, and do the practice sessions..and just pay attention to the details...you'll see what i mean when you take it.

Also angles, where they give you an angle, and ask you what the approximate degree value is.

G'luck!
