Unfortunately what alot of DCI guys don't seem to understand is that an airline whose entire business plan is based on the lowest cost outsourcing from it's major carrier is doomed from the start. Comair is essentially a virtual airline that has outlived it usefulness to Delta because of it's cost structure. It's flying is not it's own. It cannot determine it's own future because the flying it does is basically contractual. This is not a smear against Comair's pilots, it is just the reality of the situation that they face. Comair pilots should have never been misled into thinking that they were anything more than a tool to outsource mainline flying. Nothing more, nothing less.

XJ goes to 9E benefits in Jan 2010...but they are working out a deal for all DCI carriers including wholly owned to have the same pass travel bennies...
It was foolish for Skywest pilots to think DAL would sell Compass or Mesaba to Skywest. They got burned by Comair before 9/11. They won't let that happen again.

Who cares!! Either you show up to work or you don't, an just enjoy the decision. Comair is doomed...yea possibly...comair will flourish...yea possibly. Comair's managment lies to us...yea possibly, Comair schedules suck...yea....Comair has a FEW fun trips...yea possibly...Delta the antiChrist can do what they want to us...yea ....In the end, who cares. Nothing a comair pilot or ALPA for that matter can do to save or direct Comairs future. So why stress over or theorize.
I personally take a Carribean tude and say "f- it, Im gonna have a good time mon, if trip allows or a good movie at hotel on short nights. When I get the phone call and/or letter Im gone, as I have in past, then I move on. Where's my vuvuzela!!? hahaha!
Diver u can attest to this..

A virtual airline huh? I guess we're all doomed then. Thanks for this glorious insight. And it's ITS, not IT'S. One is possessive and one is a contraction.

Please explain. In my estimation the threat of a strike hampering Delta's operations after this latest deal has been increased. A Pinnacle strike would surely hurt Delta.

Remember the CVG840? Do you think- really think Delta gives a damn about these families? Richard Anderson is a Dick and will always be a Dick! (play on words) Someone also posted about Delta being doomed to fail. I believe that, you got former Northwest guys running the place. They know how to run an airline........into the ground!

I too, get the impression that no one saw this coming. However, I don't see this as a good thing for Comair. From the press release I gather that we were unsellable because of our high cost structure (Delta even financed the Mesaba and Compass deal).

My question, is why can't the get they get rid of us all together?

--sorry for being such a pessimist, and with that said, I really really hope I am dead wrong.

I have to be optimistic. Nothing else left.
The sale of those 2 companies were a huge surprise to the public, and one of them made sense. Did you guys know RA is/was a huge stock owner in Pinnacle Holdings?. According to filings, he no longer is one. However his wife is. So Selling Mesaba to Pinnacle is a fantastic move. Besides the normal money grubing schemes, getting rid of regionals is something RA has said he'll do. As far as our future is concerned, the new contract negotiations will be a huge indicator of what we may end up as. I believe they'll start by asking for a pay cut from everybody, stalemate will ensue since neither side will budge on that item. At that point is where I think DL will make buyout offer to senior folks. Mind you, it will be a really cheap one. As somebody mentioned, they will not reward those guys. At this point, some of them are going to finally realize they will not get anything decent ever from DL, and might consider the offer. After that, the end result of the negotiations will determine whether they'll keep us around or sell us. This is just me speculating.
Happy Fourth everyone.
