Correction on that. They don't make more than mainline, they make more than most (possibly all) other regionals.

Really doubt that one, captainv.
DAL f/a's are usually offered a carrot every time they threaten to unionize, (e.g. Pan Am deal).

Most f/a's at the majors (the ones left/not furloughed) are topped-out on pay, and make substantially more than a topped-out regional f/o, (or some junior regional capt.'s).

So, these are the trends lately;
DAL can't seem to sell us, (even though we make them money),Comair's f/a's are getting DAL-style uniform upgrades,Soaper (a major impediment to Comair growth) is gone, our MEC is having "positive" talks with DAL MEC, DAL wants a 100-seater (DALPA only wants it if on their list) to compete with JetBlue & Republic, we have the E-jet already on the cert., and DAL is re-modeling/expanding JFK terminal to the tune of $1.2bil...oh, and JFK-based JetBlue entered a code-share with DAL's main rival in JFK (AA)...anybody else seeing a possible trend?
(I know, Spoilers, there are other indicators too...but these message boards are inherently rife with rumors and speculation).

Food for thought, eh?

Now that's an interesting nugget. Is there any concrete moves in this direction, other than idle speculation?

Yes, it's hard to calculate intrinsic value with a wholly-owned, (AA has the same problem trying to spin-off AE...the "Who is really feeding whom?' question is something only the bean counters & lawyers know the answer to).

The DAL bean-counters aren't stupid and would not be shifting any flying to OH if we didn't contribute to Delta's profits, IMO.

Really didn't think it's so speculative. DAL would undoubtedly be interested in replacing the aging DC-9, competitors are taking advantage of a 100-seat jet's metrics, but most majors are scoped-out. Aircraft manufacturers are responding to their client's by designing CRJ-1000's, ERJ-195's, Mitsubishi's, etc.

Seems plausible to me.

Did they announce the launch customer of the Bombardier C-Series? I thought I had heard rumors of maybe delta being it to replace dc-9s.

There is a US customer that has ordered 16 CRJ 1000's, the order happened two years ago and the buyer has remained in the dark since then. I always assumed it would be skywest who was the one who bought it, but who knows it could have been DAL or even Pinnacle for all we know. It all depends on scope clause. Also, never rule out our corp from buying you either as we have recently seen. Just to clarify that there is absolutley no rumor or evidence of that but its always a possiblity if PNCL got a sweet deal out of it. Woudlnt that be fun merging 4 groups!!!!!!!!!!
