This must be why we're bringing back furloughs.

yes, you are correct. The summer flying needed to be covered so like any airline management they have a knee jerk reaction.

But Comair will not be around by the end of this year...

ASA is picking up 100 aircraft...A majority of these A/C are coming from Comair...The CRJ50 will be gone in about 3 years.

"The part of moving over to compass was my hope for you guys. Don't want to see anyone loose their jobs. ASA along with Skywest is looking at Comair for the aircraft and routes. This will happen. Yes the 50's are going out of the Delta system. But other airlines will still use them."

Still waiting for my Compass seniority number. The three "facts" at the end are so grossly in conflict with each other I don't know where to start.

Source at Delta. Got it.

"Yes, keep you thinking about where my source is really from. It's working."

Now your source is at ASA?

"Still working..."

So are these 100 new 700/900s the same as Comair's CRJ50s, or are they XJet's EMB145-700/900s? How does ASA get around Delta's scope limits?

"As for the Scope. Delta Management is working with their pilot group to relax the scope by offering them a 20% pay raise. This will happen in time. Maybe early next year.."

So, how's Afterburner/Trailblazer doing so far? I guess when we look at September's bid packs we'll see ASA guys flying Freedom's DTW stuff, and Comair guys will be on the Compass list. And what will become of Comair's 28 70/90s? All 100 of them will be at ASA.

Rumor Fail.

Well, if they really want to cut costs on the pilot group side, a decent payout package or a flow-through would be viable options. Either offer a GOOD buyout package to the most senior guys, or establish a flow through agreement for our 8-15 year range CAs where it would be worth it to flow without taking a big hit on pay. This would of course create recalls, upgrades and hiring = lower pilot costs, improved morale and happier pilot group. But what do I know, I'm only a pilot. Unfortunately, flying has always gone to the lowest bidder/operator, and I think it'll always be that way, unless we all unite and stand together, but hell, we can't even unite as our OWN pilot group...

I am still surprised DS departure didn't make the papers. I wish JB would hold some employee Q&A.
No news is good news, I guess. (I hope.)

I just heard that the EFB thing might be happening now that DS is pursuing other opportunities. I think the FAA has already signed off on it. My source says that it may look like this:

Lido/eRouteManual - Lufthansa Systems

In reality, they are probably just giving all of the captains a Kindle™.

Does anybody think with the departure of DS, we might see more recalls? If we get EFB's can we eliminate the we are doom theory for now?
