thats good news. anyone ever fly the red eye from the west coast? i figure that might be my best chance at avoiding getting bumped and maybe even catching a first class seat, but mostly i just need to get on the plane.

So this is on a Skywest thread and posted by SkyWestPilot1:

"The word on the street is that SkyWest is going to be looking for around 1600 or so all together. Around 580 or so for the Mesa work which should be showing up between now and the end of Sep. The rest is for the Comair work but won't be until after the 1st of the year. I guess their contract states that if anything is sold the pilots go with the equipment, however (as I've been told) that contract ends at the end of this year. I'm only the messengers......................."

Skywest is running 4 classes now, 2 for pool hires and 2 for UAL furloughs. So this guy thinks that they'll be hiring 1600 in Jan '11 because they're taking all of Comair's assets. Who writes this stuff?

Is he referring to the "drowning pool"? Yes, we are treading water still, come on in!

Does anyone know if our contract actually states that about pilots going with equipment if sold? I would look it up myself but do not have a current one.

Pretty sure that's Section 1... but lawyers make minced meat out of contracts everyday. Probably worth as much as the paper it's printed on. I don't know that the contract expires as much as it becomes amendable. This would be a good question for a union rep or a lawyer. My brother is a lawyer... I might run this by him tomorrow.

Edit:

Section 1 sub. B covers Successorship.

Section 30 covers Duration of Agreement

I would copy and paste those sections here, but the PDF wouldn't let me copy and paste.

Here's a link to APC so you can read the contract: http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/o...Itemid,85.html

It's dated 2007, but I bet these sections have never changed.

Did the pilots go with all the 70's we sent to ASA? I believe that was early 07 right after I got hired.

i don't see how sec 30 says that the contract goes away or expires. it just states when we can negotiate a new contract. I thought that we continue to work under the old contract until either an agreement is reached, were locked out, or we go on strike.
