People in the SOCC read this thread. Don't be surprised if the parameters associated with a self-swap become more restrictive as a result of this post. Nice job.

When you have an MEC that is intent on holding its memberships merger fund..... even when there IS NO MERGER, he has to go.
I have been lied to by this guy over and over again.
Years ago he told me that we were going to petition the NLRB for single carrier status with Mesaba and FORCE management to merge us all... thus saving the Comair memberships seniority (ie prevent downgrades).
Lies.
Just google all of that topic and start doing your own research and you find out that an MEC has no power to force a merger at all.
This was his evasive excuse for not returning the money to the membership. What's the story now?
The bottom line is one of two scenarios:
1) Previous MEC's borrowed TONS of money from ALPA national and they got their money back under the guise of a merger fund that does not really exist. Therefore our MEC can't give the money back. He wont tell us this because he is hoping for a job at ALPA national as a Union guy after he is downgraded or furloughed.
2) This MEC is squarely in the back pocket of the 400 (or so) most senior pilots who are staying awake praying that someone is stupid enough to buy comair and then use everybody's merger fund to help themselves and only themselves.
If you are furloughed....you are screwed in a merger or acquisition. Each and every pilot who is in this "screwed" category or will be by the end of this year should receive their $240 back with an apology from this MEC.
While everybody could really use this money back right about now.... and he simply ignores the demands, I just cant wish enough bad on this guy.

I have considered filing a suit in small claims court here in Michigan against Comair ALPA for my 240 dollars. I now longer work for them, so I should not be responsible for the merger fund, if they merge (which won't happen) it should be funded by pilots on the current seniority list
It is 25 bucks to file the lawsuit and at the very least it will stir things up, plus it is a matter of principle.
