Important message. Our pilots need to stick together and force Delta's hand
and get this awful decision reversed. Starting this Tuesday all CVG DTW pilots will show up to work dressed in drag. We will remain this way until management gives us our planes back. Stick together. Now they will notice us!

The answer is in FAR61.39(b):

(1) Is employed as a flight crewmember by a certificate holder under part 121, 125, or 135 of this chapter at the time of the practical test and has satisfactorily accomplished that operator's approved—

(i) Pilot in command aircraft qualification training program that is appropriate to the certificate and rating sought; and

(ii) Qualification training requirements appropriate to the certificate and rating sought
So your results can be expired (and they could have already been expired when you started your employment), as long as you are employed at a 121 carrier at the time of the checkride, and go through the employer's approved training program.

I took my ATP ride while I was furloughed with an expired ATP written under FAR 61. There are some schools and DPEs that won't do it, but I was told by my local FSDO and the FAA in OKC that as long as you have a seniority number with a 121/135 carrier you are good to go. It seems like everyone interprets the FARs on this differently. Where you will run into problems is with IACRA if you have an expired written exam, the system will reject it. During my ride, the DPE filled out a paper 8710 and attached a copy of my furlough letter. No problems, I've been flying around with my ATP for 1.5 years now.

Default DTW Crashpads

For the DTW Folks...

Has anyone found a decent Hotel Crashpad? I'm still shopping around but need to make a decision here soon. I've heard reviews of the Quality Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada, Clarion, Comfort Inn and the Metropolitan.

Where are you guys staying? Has anyone found a really good deal, yet on a hotel crashpad? Recommendations?

So what's with the recall classes? Has ng4 stopped by to tell you what's going to happen? Are they still running class and sims? Is anyone staying?

The last group to come back did not get a visit from management. On our first day, we took lunch, and then waited for about 30 minutes while our class facilitator tried to contact them. When nobody responded, they let us go for the day.

Now, everyone is in the sims and should be finishing up in the next 2 weeks. The initial shock was hard to handle (while studying), but now I'm just treating this as a chance to get current again and have a marketable resume in the spring!
