I guess they'll tell me to screw off then, 'cause I am still on the 50.
If they need you they need you. You have nothing to lose by asking. One of my roomies is way down on the list and he calls them all the time to pick up xtra fly. They call him about 40% of the time. Its all about what you want.

From someone that used to drive from 7 hours away I hear ya! Poak why don't you get a crash pad or bid on CVG? I hated the drive so I moved to CVG and while it rains here almost everyday and I can't wait to move to the west coast, it is so much better then driving and spending money on tolls. You told me once what you spent on tolls and while I do not remember the exact amount it was a LOT. With the little amount of time we get off around this place would you not be better off moving to cvg and being on reserve and going home on your 4 and 3 days off?

I had this idea today and for some reason in my little mind it sounded like a good idea. They have all these rate my prof sites for college and such. Someone needs to make a rate my captain site. That way if im scheduled to fly with another tool bag, i know when to call in sick. Why is it CVG seems to have a lot of unpleasant captains anyway?

What type of problems are you having with the tool captains?

Well im relatively new, and I always state this before we fly, its part of my brief to the capt. Im still slow at running flows at times. So I always ask if I can run the before take off flow early. Ive had a couple tell me no, then tell me to run it too late and preceed to yell at me when we are not ready at the end. Then I had a captain close the cockpit door for me but it never latched. So it was hitting the lock on taxi and clicking and I got yelled at for not locking the door. I had a real bad experience today that ill have to PM you with the details. Its been a lot of little stuff but it really sets the mood for the whole trip.

Dont check out and then ask for extra fly. You might run into a problem because you were released to rest and then didnt have your 10 hours in domicile. I would just ask before you check out or add it from sbs open time if they ever make it available again.

I undersand your frustration. We were all new at somepoint and the captains should understand that. Running the before takeoff checklist depends on how long of a taxi you have. Flying out of JFK I run my checklist when we are 4th. in line. Out of CVG and other airport, taxi time could be very fast and I run my checklist early so I'm not rushed. Just remmeber, DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RUSH YOU. It's your butt on the line. Your captaind should understand that you are trying to protect him and your self. It will get better. PM me if you have any issues.

Checking out has nothing to do with it. You need to do it before your 20 minute release window after block in. It's after 20 minutes that you are released, regardless of whether or not you check out.
