Comair updates?

SuperPilotJesse, I too thought it would be cool to live and be based in New York, until I moved up there. After the first week I couldn't stand it at all and couldn't wait to move anywhere else besides New York. New York is a cool place to visit once or twice, but living there is terrible! Then again that is just my opinion, you do what makes you happy.

Everybody here just doesn't want you to get your hopes up about JFK. The flying and captains there are great. The whole crashpad thing there sucks after awhile. In the 2 months I was there I think I only went to manhattan 2-3 times just cuz it took forever to get there.

If you want to fly, choose CVG. If you want to sit around and only fly a few hours a month, choose JFK. Of course it is all subject to change. JFK used to be short staffed when it first opened a few years ago and reserves were maxing out on flying. Now, they are fat on FO's there. It is all subject to change. A few months can make a huge difference. Base closures, new aircraft, loss of aircraft, additional flying, less flying. There are so many variables. But as of today at this very moment: CVG=fly; JFK=sit around.

JFK FO, that bidded to fly and is pretty junior..i've flown 22 hours this month..9 of those hours were in one day. I've spent 14 nights in my crash pad this month due to not being used (a lot of day trips). Getting to Manhattan isn't easy, it's a loud, dirty 1 to 1.5 hour ride in the subway (i'm in kew gardens) and if they call when i'm IN the city, teh chances of me making a 2 hour call out are slim (especially with my stuff still in the crash pad).
Take it from another 22 year old single guy with no attachments..it's not fun at all sitting around.
On the other hand, the weather is getting better, i've been kinda confined in the pad due to the silly NE cold.
Meh..just my .02

SuperPilotJesse just come to CVG and we'll have a good time, go find the local talent and pick up some dirty flight attendants
Everyone on here is telling you to come to CVG.
I've commuted since I've been at Comair and it sucks and takes a lot of fun out of the job. I am just now moving to Kentucky (I am actually still looking for a place to move around N. Kentucky, so if anyone has any recommendations for nice and affordable living, let me know!).
Anyway, you'll get to spend time around CVG while you are here during training, go venture out and explore the area and talk to some of the current pilots and then make a decision if you want to go to CVG or JFK.
Hit me up when you are here for training and we'll have some cold ones!

ha...talent in Kentucky now that is funny. As for Flight Attendant's every decent looking FA ( the three that work here) I saw was JFK based.
Here's to chllin in the crashpad drinking beer, watching basketball, and listening to hockey...I'm a multi-tasker tonite

Thanks for your opinion Red. I know the theme of the forums is do what's right for you no one else can make that choice... I hear ya on the whole not liking it, but if there was ever a time to try its now. 23 no wife kids or even a current girlfriend. I think I am going to have to try it. I'll probably be back here telling new FOs not to, but hey I will always wonder if I don't.
