During the presidents message the other day, he stated that there woulnd't be any recalls due to the resent news. Whether you believe the guy or not is up to you.
I am one who has volunteered to take the separation package. Now, I have made the decision to help out this company and to leave. From the sound of things though, they are going to string me along until they have fixed their new staffing situation. So here I want to leave ASAP and I am sure a furloughed guy would love to come back ASAP, but they simply don't see things that way. One more reason I can't wait to leave.

Sweet Factory LLC is recalling more of their candies that contain peanuts due to health risks
Oh yeah, and True Value is recalling certain wheelbarrows because over inflated tires can cause the wheel to crack and cause injury.

Here's a hypothetical questions for Comair pilots:
How many actual pilots and/or flight attendants out on furlough would go back if recalled? I would be skeptical of going back within the next few months if/when they recall, due to the fact that D.S. specifically stated "no additional furlough's until at least August" within his recent memo. What happens when August comes around, and Comair block hour capacity is once again reduced for the winter months?
I'm my opinion it's hard to commit my life to a company that is quick to furlough employee's at the drop of a hat. Their reputation has already been established for this precedent.
Then again, there are no specific plans to recall anyone in the near future.
Thoughts?

Kill a couple weeks in retraining and the sim, then get enough flight time to be considered "current" again for job hunting maybe?
Or, come back to be "displaced" to JFK and let Comair eat the cost of selling your place in CVG and moving you someplace with better job prospects? As I read the contract, if you live in Knoxville (for example)you can have Comair pay your relocation to, say, Baltimore because that's "closer" to your new domicile (JFK).

Reason 2, not exactly. Yes, the company would have to pitch in for your move, but in no way will they help you sell your house, or sell it for you.

Here are some interesting things to think about.....
Comair doesn't have much time to get people in place to cover this flying, so as the email today stated for the next two months this flying will be covered by CVG crews deadheading to and from the north east. (yet again another pay cut. Build all the trips with DHs at 100% and pay 75%)
Now, it would make sense for the company to open a vacancy bid before holding a displacement bid for a couple of different reasons.
If pilots are displaced to a new domicile the company has to pay to assist that crew member with moving expenses. Whereas if a vacancy is opened first lots of senior CAs and FOs right now that are being forced into reserve in CVG would actually bid JFK or the new base to hold a line. The company would not only save money from not having to assist with moving expenses, but they wouldn't have to pay for retraining that pilot being displaced into a different category.
I've been thinking about the housing situation a little more as well. If they end up displacing tons of crew members they are going to be stuck with a ton of people commuting from CVG to the northeast, not just JFK. These folks will be forced to commute, because there is no way people will be able to sell their houses right now in KY, OH, or IN. The company will end up with over half of their crews commuting with a clause to protect their jobs and will not be able to efficiently operate. They think cancellations are bad now. We are going to have to run Crew Shuttles from CVG to JFK 5 times a day or something.
I think everyone looking for some information should call your FO or CA reps. I am not saying that they have the answers right now, because for the most part they don't. However, they will fill you in with regard to the hurdles that they are facing and their concerns with all of this.
