Comair updates?
Maybe it's all about $$$, but why not offer TDY up to JFK? If this block hour increase is a temporary thing they could get takers to cover it short term. I for one would sit reserve in JFK with them paying for the hotel and perdiem 6 days at a time. Also, I am not sure this will result in a lot of deadheads for lineholders. There will be some, but I am thinking that a CVG trip will originate with something like CVG-DCA, BWI, etc and then continue with JFK out and backs for 4 days. As a reserve though I expect it to be a lot like this month, 76 hours of credit with 30 hours of block.
They won't offer TDY there, because JFK will be Comair's base. CVG will wither down to nothing and there will be no need for a Comair base in CVG. When that happens, everyone will be based in JFK (or the other "NE" base that has been rumored for the past two years. BOS?).
The Comair!
1 part Grenadine (the cheap stuff on the bottom)= junior FO's
2 parts Tequila = the stuff that numbs you so you don't care what's happening around you
1 part KY Gentlemen Bourbon = the GO (cheap and not very good, but still KY)
1 part Peychaud's Bitters = Senior pilots that will be displaced to JFK
1/2 oz. Everclear grain alcohol = Delta Air Lines
Mix:
Add Grenadine to glass
Lightly pour tequila and bourbon onto Grenadine, without disturbing the Grenadine.
Add Peychaud's Bitters
Add 1/2 oz. of Everclear to top of drink
With a match, ignite Everclear
You now have a Comair - a drink that puts a bad taste in your mouth, with a topper (Delta) that if left burning will consume the entire drink until there is nothing left
Sounds like a plan! I'm working on the ingredients for a new drink.

Just wondering about this letter saying Comair is going to be flying NWA Airlink flights. It says:
When making public address announcements, please remember to acknowledge Northwest Airlink
branding (Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard Northwest Airlink flight thirty seven twenty eight…).
There may be circumstances where you will fly into a hub as a Delta Connection flight and leave the hub
as a Northwest Airlink flight. Every attempt will be made to keep these situations to a minimum.
A while back, FA's were told that during their PA it was "Delta XXXX to wherever" not "Comair XXXX" because of this ridiculous "Seamless transition" crud. I also did my PA as "Delta Flight XXXX" and stopped saying Comair. Now, NWA is owned by Delta, but they want you to say "NWA Airlink"?? DOES ANYONE IN MANAGEMENT HAVE ANY CLUE AS TO WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON AROUND THIS COMPANY!?! Wait, I know the answer to that....NO!!!!!

I am hearing that Delta and Compass are in talks of stapling Compass to the bottom of Delta. Then a merge between Mesaba and Comair and the Comair name will go away. Give it about 10 months max and watch what happens.

You should know better than to ask questions.. Delta also now owns Compass, but I believe they still go by "Compass"

I got this info from Airliners.net. They are freaking out over it. Pretty funny. I think these are Comair flights.

Talked to a buddy today who is also taking the early out. He called forecasting and planning to try and get information on separation dates for the 55Point/EO program. Get this..... Apparently after the company was issued these extra block hours they freaked and wished that they hadn't offered the buyout when they did. They told him that the company probably won't be able to tell the early out guys when they will be able to start announcing separation dates until after the displacement bid results have been published(mid April.) The reason being that we are suppose to have around a 2500 hour block REDUCTION from September through the end of the year. That reduction is suppose to come out of CVG leaving the remainder of our flying in the NE. I guess he and others asked why the company couldn't just recall a few guys and let the 55/EO guys go since it would be cheaper to the company and they said that it wouldn't make sense for them to recall guys and then turn around and furlough them again in September. It makes complete sense.
Remember the email from RP that said they didn't see the need to have any additional furloughs at least through August?
Geeze...... They won't even let you leave this place.

I see us going the way of PSA. They have their HQ, Main Mx facility and some training spaces with a small Pilot and FA base in DAY. Their primary base for pilots and FA's, sims, and mx hangar are all in CLT. So we'd have our GO, main MX facilty, training, sims and a small pilot/FA base here in CVG, with our main pilot/FA base being JFK as well as most of our operations. CVG will be really senior, since they have settled here in the tri-state area.
So any guesses to what this new domicile for us is? My only guess is BOS, but I'm wondering if we'll ever have something like DTW.
