Comair updates?
The upgrade would be tempting. PIC time is PIC time, no? I had a buddy that worked there for a little under a year. The pay was terrible, the overnights were in "towns" you've never heard of, but the snow-skiing was great. Hand-flying non-precision approaches into high elevation airports would also be a good experience. Hope this helps and good luck.
"Remember Sony Bono?"
Be careful on those slopes, I've seen too many friends hurt recently.
Too cold for me, I like 80 degrees and clear blue/green water
I'm with you Lowlevel, shorts, fliflops, tshirt, beer.
I know it's been discussed before, but any furloughed Comair guys/gals had any luck non-reving on another DCI carrier since your original pass benefits expired? What about NWA? Thanks in advance.

Thanks mumu... I think if people started understanding that being on the other's side of the fence (or in this case, phone) has its difficulties. I've had the fortune of seeing many sides of the industry, but some of my co-workers haven't had that experience, and the misunderstandings on our part of not knowing how things can be on that side of the fence have caused more than enough difficulties between us. Likewise, most of you probably have no idea the volume of (insert expletive of choice) that goes down on an IROP day.
We are quite often the ever-quoted messenger (as in "don't kill the") when it comes to these things. My most frustrating instances being why planning (they're not even on the same floor anymore, let alone part of our department) changes reserve windows (and I only have a vague understanding of how that goes down), and having to debate people about how many more people I need to furlough, because I obviously make the big bucks for coming up with those numbers... I would love to un-furlough everyone, if I had more than the half-thimble of authority I currently have, that is.
When it comes to ready reserve, we only call more in when they're needed. The reason may not be obvious at first glance, but we don't sit around thinking evil thoughts, then call them in. Another point about coverage: calling a free and clear in from home is only an option 90 minutes from report (120 minutes JFK). Quite often, the ready reserve has to be used, due to last minute sick calls (both inbound and reporting), ferry flights (and everything assoicated with those), and recrews. In my experience, they can burn through readies very quickly, depending on who is calling the shots that day, mostly due to excessive recrews.

I am a furloughed Comair FO and I have no problem non-reving on other carriers. I have road on Freedom and Chataqua a few times. I also have called the Northwest Fly Together Program (1-800-943-6319) and listed on NW flights no problem either.
