I will never forget the night that Natalie came upstairs and walked in and started taking the furniture out to put it downstairs. She never knocked when she came in. At that point I knew it was time to get out. Spent the last month in hotels...about $2000 worth.

Jumpseat is fine...it's best to list..but if it's on any airline aside Delta they're not going to know.. the flights have to be scheduled to depart an hour or greater apart and the 2nd one scheduled to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to report time.

It's mostly honor system, they can't check if you listed on other airlines and didn't make it..they can check on DL if they feel like it..i wouldn't risk lying though..not that you said you were ..i'm just saying

oh no i've gone cross eyed

It is my understanding that they can check to see if you got looked up in the CASS database. So they can see if you got cleared through CASS to travel on another airline.

Up to 2000 dollars (your deductile also goes toward the 2 grand) After that you don't have to pay anything.

That is 20% of of what the insurance company allows the doctor to charge (not what the doctor would normally charge). The two can be substantially different (like 60% less)

Alright, time to catch up on my posts...

Animosity Among Pilots
Personally, I think the animosity amongst regional pilots is disgusting. It’s like freakin’ high school all over again. Everyone thinks they are cooler than everyone else; my airline is better than yours; my CRJ is better than your ERJ. It’s pretty pathetic if you ask me. CHQ didn’t “take” any flying from us. Delta decides who and where we are going to fly. This is how the regional airline industry works. Get used to it. Period.

CVG vs. JFK Base
Both bases have their pros and cons. Personally, I don’t like JFK. Good thing about JFK is you have the more laid back crews, and it is a good money maker if you hold a line and you get stuck with delays, plus everything is connect with public transportation to/from airport/downtown/crashpad. You need some patience flying in and out of JFK. The downside to JFK, the terminal and crew rooms are disgusting, and if you don’t have enough patience, it can become a nightmare. Plus, as an F/O you won’t be flying very much. You will fly quite a bit to get your 100 hrs., but then things will start to slow down.

SuperPilotJesse: I would consider CVG. It is a bigger base, which in turn has more flying to go around, and you will fly more. Unless you like sitting around the crashpad and work as little as possible, but if you are like me, trying to get this regional flying over with as soon as possible, you might want to consider CVG.

April 8 Net Conference
Don’t give your hopes up guys. It will be the same BS and Kool-Aid they fed us during the last net conference. IF something big would happen, it would have already leaked out to the news media.

Hiring
Someone motioned they are going to pick up hiring again to 30 people/month. I highly doubt that. Our attrition has slowed a little, plus I think we have more than enough F/Os at this time.

CRJDriver: Thank you for your insight, you always have a great perspective. I wish other people could convey their feelings with out sounding so condescending. (Not anyone in this thread, but other threads) I am not sold on JFK, and I do want to fly, but the idea of NYC is pretty cool. Naive? Maybe but that's just the way it I feel.

Like I said in my post I don't want to be a rumor starter or take what they said out of context but they clearly stated during the interview that they planned on hiring 90 pilots (30 each of the next three months) Are they just trying to hype it up, make it sound more appealing that it would be otherwise? Maybe. But who really knows.

Training does a lot of talking, with not a lot of facts to back it up....They think and pretend that they're "in the know", they really aren't.

Yes, New York City is pretty cool to visit, but I couldn't see myself living there. I was based in JFK for 4 weeks, and that was enough for me.

I am also from the left side of the country, and the commute to JFK or CVG sucks. I don't know your background, but look at the regionals like college. Suck it up, move to base and go fly for the regionals for a few years, at the end you graduate with a degree (SIC or PIC Type rating) and move on. That's the best advice I can give you. We are, and most likely will continue to loose more and more 50 seaters and continue to get reduced flying out of JFK. There is plenty of flying to go around out of CVG, and you WILL fly more in CVG than JFK! Plus, you can come over to the 70/90 (CVG base only), which is where the growth will be. And believe it or not, but today, you will more than likely hold a line faster in CVG than JFK. Ask some of the JFK based guys how much they have moved in the last 3 months.

Good luck!

Oh come on, you don't need to lie to him like that.

Actually Driver, your post was pretty much dead on. Well said.

As a CVG flyer, and especially if you move up to the 700/900 crew group, you'll get your fair share of JFK and LGA overnights. We even do some 30+ hour EWR overnights. So if you want to go into Times Square and have some fun, your time will come. You can even jumpseat/nonrev up on your days off. But don't get JFK based just because you want to see NYC. You'll enjoy CVG, its really not that bad. Crews are good too, its not as bad as people think. JFK may have more junior crew types, but that doesn't necessarily mean the senior guys are not laid back. I just flew with #7 on the seniority list, and we had a blast.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't choose JFK just for the novelty of it. If its an easier commute, then go for it. Your commute isn't going to be easy in either city.
