If your only taking a day or two I would tell them you want it unpaid. That way you still have your vacation for later on.

I used personal leave last month for 4 or 5 days..I just told the Chief Pilot I needed PL and he said OK. I told him I didn't know how long it would be but I'd keep him posted. He didn't seem to mind. It was unpaid though but I didn't want to use my vacation time.

I just got a class date for June 16th and was wondering if there was anybody currently in class right now that knows if they are still paying per diem during training. CA Tim during the interview stated that they pay per diem, but I remember hearing around here on the boards that they stopped with per diem a little while back for new hires. I know Tim is not the word on these matters as he is a line pilot that helps with recruiting and those decisions are decided by others in management. Either way I'm looking forward to drinking from the CRJ firehose.

Welcome fjetter. On behalf of all Comair FO's, it's certainly a pleasure to have you below us. Please tell all of your friends to come here too!

Seriously though, welcome to Comair. The training is excellent.

I've heard that per diem is no longer offered to new hires.

If you snag open time as a reserve pilot on a hard day off, does it count as time and a half above your monthly guarantee if you aren't going to break it, or do they factor it into your guaranteed hours?

Yes. Any flying done you your hard days off does not count towards your monthly guarantee.

Ya... if they would freakin give it to me... I put in for open time for tomorrow, a nice 12 hour, 2 day trip... well, i used the ADT form on epic yesterday to put in for it, also calling scheduling AND planning today.... well, turns out they assigned it to an L1 rsv guy without even looking at the ADT list after I called them.... this ticks me off, they have done this to me almost every time I've tried to pick up EF. I mean, damn... I got rent to pay...
