Don't listen to their threats, they just want to scare you. You did absolutely nothing wrong.

Which one said that to you? And these guys wonder why they don't get any respect from the group. Say you got an SD.... It can't stay in your file for more than 24 months I believe and the chances of any FO at Comair being in a position to apply to a major in 2 years seems doubtful right now. "I'm going to put your name on the board mister." These guys are clowns.

I think we should do what many other chief pilot's offices do. A chief can only serve for 2 years and then it's someone elses turn. That way we don't get crusty old guys that build history in the position. How can someone who represents the pilot group sit on the company side of the table in contract negotiations? That office is in definite need of a shake-up.

I dont want to throw names around, to his credit he was nice. Just wanted to know why I didnt have a pager (its broken) why I didnt get another one (no money to pay the fee) why my cell was off (why would it be on?) and why I didnt respond to the RIDS that scheduling put up there (nothing was on the RIDS ask the capt).

I agree, but good luck suggesting that. During the bankruptcy payout, there were actually some pilots suggesting I sign a petition that the chiefs be included in the payout... meanwhile the chiefs were on the other side of the negotiating table.

Give the tower a call. One of the managers can easily pull up an audit to show if it was on there or not. They can print it out for you and you can use it for your defense.

When you are on a trip you are not "on call," so there isn't even a need to have your pager with you, broken or not. (When I leave for a trip I leave my pager at home.) If they wanted to get a hold of you they could have put it on the rids or had the crew give you the message if and when they called in range. Otherwise you just go with the original trip you were assigned. There is no way that any SD would have been upheld because you were not required to be at scheduling's disposal as you were already assigned a trip.

I think the question here is did they use 'proper notification'? As much as I hate defending scheduling, a reserve still has to be telephone available during his reserve period. They can add or remove you from an assignment, or put you back in your reserve window. I never had a pager, and will refuse to carry one. They got my phone number and they know how to get a hold of me. My phone is usually on while I'm not in the air. This is reserve and it sucks. Once you've been on reserve long enough, you can work the system to your advantage

I call them and apparently they were trying to get ahold of me for another trip. Long story short I had to call the chief and explain my situation. There was nothing on the RIDS when i got there, I couldnt hear the pages since I was outside enjoying the nice weather, I dont have a pager and my cell was turned off. My question is am I required to have it on even though ive already been notified of another trip?

Not sure if you all have seen this...I thought it was funny.

It has nothing to do with flying.

Haha, its not your fault. You did your best and it worked for a little bit. I just figured they would have sent another reservist waaayyy before that. LEX sucked, and they changed my schedule yet again this morning. Im still ****ed off! Thanks for trying man.
