So, I know this is one of those "hang on and let me get out my magic 8 ball questions" but I was curious, does anyone know if the upgrade time at Comair will be coming down anytime soon? I live about 15 mins from CVG in NKY and had always planned on starting at Comair, but the really long upgrade time seems to be the only thing keeping me from going there. If anyone has any info that would be great. Thanks!

I think they will come down. There was a long period of time when Comair did almost no hiring. That is why there is long upgrade times. I think it will come down to around 3 years or so pretty soon. We seem to have a large number of people that could upgrade that are staying as FO's for various resons.

What kind of times are competitive at Comair right now? Just wondering if you guys had an idea about what new hires/interviewees are walking in with. To any JFK based employees out there, what's the quality of life like?

QOL sucks in NYC unless you want to live there. Take it from a native New Yorker that wouldn't want to go back!

Yeah, maybe I should've included the fact that I do live in NYC...that probably would've helped since I was hoping to hear what life was like at Comair if you actually did want to be here. With regard to living here, I know where you're coming from...it's crazy how this place can appear to even a native after spending some time away.

Thanks! Yeah, that is interesting. It sounds similar to Eagle's situation. They didn't hire anyone for the longest time, so that is why their upgrades are super long. 3 years would be great. What are the chances of getting based at CVG? I've heard the new hires automatically go to JFK but I didn't know how true that was. If I didn't have to commute or get a crash pad that might be too good to be true. I'm seriously a 15 min drive from my house to the employee lot at CVG.

I worked as summer help at Comair for the past 3 summers and met and talked to tons of nice Comair guys. I remember meeting a few that had been FO's for a long time and didn't want to upgrade due to seniority and QOL. I guess everyone is different.

I'm sure all of them will be Comair. Delta doesn't seem to like us very much. Or maybe they won't be parked, maybe Big Sky will get them from us.
