I made more on reserve some months than I do now as a lineholder.

By the way, the long call system is a laugh. There's nothing keeping scheduling from changing 'em all to short call. Granted, they need at least 20% of reserves on long call but who's watching? Another loophole that the company exploits that should have been prevented with appropriate language in the TA. That's what happens when your scheduling committee hasn't sat reserve in a decade. That's also why I voted "no" on that POS TA -- the reserve system at Comair is beaattch.

Thank you. I know a lot of my posts are me whinning about reserve but all I really want is to fly. Now if those hours are cut I hope it isn't entirely from JFK. And CVG for me is almost out of the question due to the difficulties of commuting.

How times have changed here at Comair. I RARELY ever sat reserve in CVG and DIDN'T get called out -- didn't matter the window and bidding to fly was worth something. Aside from picking up EF on your day off (yuck) until you can hold a line the system sucks. Momma "D" will be adding more new int'l routes of JFK in 2008 so I don't foresee an hour reduction there. CVG on the other hand......

If that happens people may bid to JFK to continue holding a line...making reserve longer.

Could Comair be the only regional looking to reduce pilots while everyone else is hiring? It looks like we aren't hiring right now so I curious to the future.

And about the future, I'm debating putting my information in at Republic. I have a few reservations about doing so though:

1) Comair did spend a lot of money to get me an SIC in the CL-65. I do feel an obligation to the company.

2) I'm almost at the year mark so my pay goes up a little. I'm not too thrilled about another year of 1st year FO pay.

3) How would it look to jump from one regional to another?

If anyone has any feedback please share.

I do not know what the future holds but we are hiring. Two classes started Indoc in DEC trying for four in JAN. The two DEC Indoc classes had 5 each.

In regard to block hours the number I heard is 6% of DCI flying will be cut in February. True their was a loss in CVG of about 500 hrs but also the Jan bidends on the 30th one day less than the DEC.

1. True, they did spend a lot of money, but it is a cost of doing business. Would they feel an "obligation" to you if they needed to reduce staffing? Answer: Nope. You gotta do what is best for you.

2. I can feel you there. If you feel that a move would benefit you over time, then it is worth it.

3. It happens ALL THE TIME.

Funny that you mention Midway. Selvaggio is the one who ran it into the ground if I remember correctly.

The reason the vacancy was canceled they can't get FOs to fill the back flow. Comair wants to hire. That's why the completion is so poor for the month.
