Putting 4000 hours into perspective... (someone please correct my math)
JFK January Flight Hours: 8,093
CVG January Flight Hours: 16,681
CVG 70/90 Flight Hours: 6,510
Total: 31,284
Since the 8 planes going away (we already knew that.. I think) will be 50's... 4000 is HALF of JFK flying or 1/4 of CVG 50 flying.
Someone on flightinfo said that the flying was to be shared amongst ALL DCI carriers, and someone else said Comair would lose it all. So who knows. Until an official announcement comes along, everything is all rumor at this point. They also said that Delta wishes to reduce the number of DCI carriers by half. Who would go?

Something is definitely up. Every regional in this industry (even with age 65) is hiring except Comair. I don't know of a single place that isn't at least hiring for attrition. Doesn't seem like Comair is even hiring for attrition. Since there is lots of attrition, but not lots of hiring to match it.

Mesa won't go anywhere. Too cheap to throw away. I'd expect to see Expressjet, maaaaaaaybe Pinnacle, and possibly Big Sky. Big Sky is pulling out of 4 or 5 cities based on their performance and in some cases load factors (Fredericton) so maybe Daddy D is unhappy with them.

I can't seem to hold long call, but scheduling made sure to give me six rr's, and mtd I have 3 hours. And yes I did bid to fly. So I keep having to be in NYC for short call but not used. PERFECT!

Bidding to fly with the "bypass" or "reserve leveling" system or whatever is, dare I say it, useless. It only guarantees more ready reserves. Before the TA went into effect last March, a bid-to-fly was worthwhile. I could credit 90+ hours A MONTH on reserve at Clownair doing bid-to-fly. I made more on reserve some months than I do now as a lineholder.
By the way, the long call system is a laugh. There's nothing keeping scheduling from changing 'em all to short call. Granted, they need at least 20% of reserves on long call but who's watching? Another loophole that the company exploits that should have been prevented with appropriate language in the TA. That's what happens when your scheduling committee hasn't sat reserve in a decade. That's also why I voted "no" on that POS TA -- the reserve system at Comair is beaattch.
