The only airline I would stay away from is Mesa because of the way they pay you. Interview with as many airlines as possible and then make an educated decision based on what you see and how you feel about the interview. Comair might not be the best placed to work for now, but things change quickly in this industry. A few months ago the best place to work was ASA or Express Jet but that is no longer true.

Good Luck.
First I have been at Comair for quite some time and I do know what I talk of.
1: 4 CEO's in five years.
2: No additional flying
3: Reduction in flying steadily for the last four years.
4: Aircraft losses (plz the 900 replaces losses) and are a joke
5: Rsv sucks like no other
6: Hotels are a joke
7: Morale is all time low
8:canx of vacancy bids
9: Continual resignations of Operational management and MEC
10: 12 to 16 hour 4 day trip pairings
11: contiual reevaluation of Comairs Role in Delta's plan which equates to rumors and uncertainty

Now yes everyone has their problems however having issues could be to trip pairings or pay however the climate of the airline with steady growth or stability..ala SKW or RAH is quite different from the climate at Comair.
Other than good people at comair which do not provide me QOL I would be hard press to find anything positive that has happened here in the last few years other than speculative rumors.
Good luck in your decision and decide on what is best however I would not recommend Comair.
In my opinion, the name and repuation of the past comair is what is left and is not am indication of what it is now but rather a shell of itself.
Again, the people are great but the vision and outlook looks bleak.

ASA was not the place to be a few month back. I’d say for about 2 years know SKW, XJT & RAH have all been the place to be. ASA now has a good contract and nothing more. Their not going anywhere but I don’t see much if any growth in their future, but I’m not Mgmnt so my crystal ball is clouded.

I would say that ASA would be a good place to start your career but I’d expect an average 3+ yr upgrade and a few yrs of reserve as a junior CA; but with the 65 rule passing the average upgrade at the regional level will more than likely stay around 3 years. Where as Comair, Eagle, Horizon and Mesa will all continue to have 4-7+ year upgrades for many various reasons.

If I had to recommend, in order, what airlines to target it would look something like this:

1) SKW or RAH
2) XJT or ASA
3) Everyone else except………………

NEVER GO TO MESA or GOJET!

We keep hearing that the 900s are coming...any chance it could be an aircraft swap with SKW?

No way...not to be rude about it, but JA and Company want ASA to do well - in their current capacity. I would expect any further growth to be on the SKW certificate. I've been wrong before, but I can't see it happening any other way. ASA I am sure will continue to play the largest role in East-Coast DAL flying.

Cool

So, in your opinion (and everyone else's) is Comair going to continue to operate? Because if so, then what its pilots are going through seems to be typical for the industry. Another lull in the flying followed by good times and then another drought/poverty. My point is, if they aren't closing the doors, then whats the harm in jumping in and waiting for things to get better at Com. I mean, the guys who work (and are starting work) for Republic and the other top regionals will soon begin to experience what everyone else is. Then others will move up and take their place at the "top". So whats the difference in those pilots who get in while its good and ppl like me who wait on their regional to make improvements? Just a few serious questions, no harm intended
