No no, Decemeber was most definitely a fluke. January I have the DA because, well, I'm only working 1 day, other than my carry in, and the 1 day trips were all gobbled up before they came to me. 2 day month is gonna be a rough one.

I'm hoping to finally get a line in Feb/March. I was only 25 or so away from getting a line in January (CVG), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. There are a few people in front of me going to the 70/90 (Suckas!) next month and maybe with a little luck I'll get a line in February. It'll definitely help with my commute.

Hey all, this is my first post and I'm happy to say I finally have a line! I thought more of my old classmates would have one in January too...looks like I was the cutoff.

Wow I got a line too! Except for that carry over guy, I'm the most junior in JFK with a line. Mines not bad...14 days off not including the DA. Which I don't get yet. Do I have to be available that day? I have a trip the next day. Of course I bid think I was going to get rsv again so I assumed I would get the days I wanted. Guess not now. I'm trying to learn how to drop and add stuff. Any pointers?

Saxman, for your DA, after the SAW, you'll get a window. Unfortunately, you cannot bid for it, but I'm not sure about that. It'll be a reserve day just like a reserve line.

I am CVG based and I'm trying to figure out how to change the "new hire" status above my icon. My hire date was back in February and I've been in CVG since August. My original line wasn't that great - 3 of my trips had full day layovers that resulted in an average or 14-15 hrs credit for a 4 day trip. However...I've been on the SAW like stink on sh*t and now I have every weekend off with a total projected credit above 90 hrs! And I have 15 days off! My buddy purposely bid reserve until he can "hold a good line," but who cares what your line is if you can change the whole thing in the SAW, right??

That will change automatically as the number of posts you make increases. I think at 25 posts it changes to "Line Holder" or something like that. After 50 or 75 posts, then it changes to "Get Weekends off."

I talked to a planner as I was working with my schedule and she said they usually try to approve/disapprove within a few hours. Also, you can put a "backup" trip for the same days as an initial request and it will just be thrown away if the first one is approved. This allows you to still be the first one to bid for a secondary trip and not just hope you'll get the first one. Another thing to remember is the SAW stays open for 72 hrs, so even if there isn't a trip you want right now, there may be something hours or even a day later. I think I was just very lucky in changing 3 of my trips. One was approved after an hour...then I went out for awhile and there were different trips available when I came back. Those trips were approved about 5 minutes after I spoke with the planner...I probably shouldn't be mentioning all this, huh?? I think if you take the time to seriously look at your options you will be rewarded. Hope that helped!
