You must be a Mesa/Freedumb dweller. I have jumseated on Freedumb and was suprised at the inexperience I saw from both the so called 1.5 year "wonder" captain and the F/O. If Freedumb is going to upgrade tools like those guys then i pity the fools who have to ride along. So what if the dude is flying in the right seat of a 172...remember where you came from because you might be right back there .

nicely put. i also have to agree with the flight instructors that have vowed to avoid the "plague" as another mainline explained the low-cost undercutting regional carriers. it makes me very happy to know that word is really getting around at little airports all over to avoid these places (mesa, gojet, ec.) because they have done nothing good for the industry but destroy it. i know the thought of a quick ugrade and move to a "major" might seem alluring, but it is hurting everyone long term. i'm really happy that you flight indtructor folks are staying informed. keep it up. it's people like you that are "one day" going to bring the industry back to where it should be. for those of you that "still" defend your poor decision making...we all will live with it...but please stop trying to defend it or act like some kind of respect is due to you.

We technically aren't even in the text book definition of a recession yet although it feels like one. The economy is already showing signs of a bottom. Existing home sales have leveled out and even began to rise last month. Oil prices have gone down over 50% over a 3 month period and people are just now starting to see those heavily reduced prices at the pump.(Because oil is sold in futures gas lags about 3 months). I know I was spending 300 a month between my wife and myself on gas a month so a dollar drop saves me about 100 a month. This will give people a little more cash and they will spend it further helping the economy recover. Travel will increase through the summer as it usually does. Schedules will be increased as the economy recovers.

Bornhorst said in a recent article that 7 or 8 regionals would survive as DCI carriers.

Mesaba
Pinnacle
ASA
CHQ
Shuttle
SkyWest
ASA
Freedom
Compass

Remove Freedom and you are left with 8. When Bornhorst went to DCI good things started to happen at Comair. Freedom was cnx and we got almost all of that flying. The only reason we still dont have it is because of the courts. When they cnx Freedoms 900's Bornhorst awarded them to Comair. According to Savaggio they were initially going to park those planes and that is why we lost them. Whatever the reason was, Pinnacle is supposed to give those back in Jan and Feb. Comair is still in the running for those as well. (Despite what everyone at Mesaba says)

None of this is a guarentee but nothing you say is either. It is speculation either way. There is light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't the train coming to run us over.

JO will still wipe his butt with the new contract, just like he does with the current one. He's looking for some breathing room and he's hoping the MAG pilots will help him get it.

First of all, Mesa will never have a contract in par with the industry. They might make you think they are working on a contract, but it will never happen.

I don’t think you get the point. You should not undercut your fellow pilots no matter what the benefit to you personally is. We all understand that Mesa has faster upgrades and so on. That does not mean you should throw your principles out the window and work for a company that lower’s the standards of the industry.
