Paok,

Thats good to hear. I often share your frustration driving 2 hours to CVG even on long call which gets me the 300am or 5am readies it is no fun. It is a choice we have all made. This career and life is all about choices and hopefully we have all put our money on a good pony in comair.

Happy New Year,
MP

3am sucks.... I guess I wont have to worry about that next month... scheduling decided (without notifying me or anything that) I should be JFK based next month.... lol. (Im supposed to be CVG based). Trying to get it changed.... Our scheduling department is very very very very very very VERY screwed up.

I normally drive in when my family has gone to bed and then crash in the crew room I find that better than going to sleep and then waking up to drive down. The nice thing about the 300ams is atleast I have to be done early!

Well ok it was 46$ last month. Whitestone bridge is the killer at 4$ each way (with EZPASS). I drove about 4 times a month round trip which depending on the price of gas was 100-120$ a trip. Not to rub it in but I was really lucky and never had the pleasure of being on reserve EVER at Comair. I did however hold some crappy lines in the beginning which were not commutable the day of. I did have to get a crashpad as well which I assume you have too?? I can not imagine driving everyday (at least without going postal).

I am sure my lucky streak at Comair is coming to a close and I will definetly be at a disadvantage at bidding reserve. ( My friends will be laughing when I call them up to ask them, "can scheduling do this to me?........they can?.......that @#$%ing sux.......those bastards!")

Diver thats screwed up to bad scheduling isnt responsible for notifying you of changes in bases. but yea thats screwy.

I think the 3am rr is only a seasonal ready reserve so hopefully it will go away by the end of the years. Its a very limited ready position cause of the 3am report. Anyway feel free to stop in any morning im usually the one half asleep with my feet up.

You could always do what a couple of our captains did on the early RR, just check in and go back to home/crashpad/hotel and go back to bed. Nothing happens that fast that early.

when I had a crashpad I was usually the only one there and I could park out front in a safe hood. Is it your intention to stay at JFK or are you going to bid CVG? With the amount of money you are spending getting to work I would get a private crashpad and save your sanity! Unless you plan on bidding CVG that is.

I must admit I did like controlling my own destiny as far as driving there and being able to go home when we got in at 10p.m. and not having to worry about making a connecting flight out of JFK.

I just cant justify a crash pad when I can get home some nights in an hour 15........ Im staying in NYC, that was the whole point of comming to Comair... short reserve time and a base i could drive to
