Default thanks everyone

Thanks everyone for the comments, the more info I find out about ASA the more I like the company. Would you all think I could live in STL and be able to commute to Atlanta? I have been a CFII for about 2 years now and I am just getting to that point where I feel the need to do something more exciting. I love flight instructing, and so far there has been nothing more rewarding. But I'm sure as everyone here knows working the 12-16 hrs a day and getting paid for half is starting to wear on me. whether it is an ATR or a jet I will be happy just to be able to have a bigger challenge and more responsibility. Any new info is always appreciated and Congrats to ASA for the TA signing!

I was wondering..."What was the age of the most senior student in your class?"

Also, what other regionals out there do seniority by age?

Hey, just to add to the pile: A buddy of mine just got hired by ASA. They need pilots bad, but not enough to hire "anyone". They need something like 40 pilots in the upcoming October class but only have 16(ish), so far. Out of five applicants, he was the only one that they hired. This kind of stuff makes me want to work there even more!

I think he was about 40. I am pretty sure XJet does it by age. Other than that, I have no idea. I know there are several that do it at random.

I am 44 and have a NOV class at RAH... but this is my second time around. Numbers seem about the same at RAH. We had 6 interview...only 1 so far ( me ) was offered a position.

Don't be. you will sit just right of me soon and I will praise you for being a CFI and getting at least some experience before you got here. The 200 hour crowd is a huge pain in the *** and I would rather fly w you.

for the records I'm a senior 70 captain, and my opinion reflect that vast majority of captains that I know.

you'll be fine, and be proud of the fact that you actually went out and earned your first airline job.

I am almost done with training, we need pilots, but like the person above said, ASA wont hire anyone, the interview is tough...I interviewed at PSA and the ASA interview was much more difficult, pplus the sim ride is a full motion CRJ 700....its a good place, morale is low, but it should get better and will be one of the better regionals with the TA...I reccomend it for sure even before the TA, I have enjoyed the time here, the training dept is EXCELLENT and they arent out to get you....study hard, be open to learning, and come prepared each day you will be fine. Yea we need 40 pilots a month, I think they ve been getting like 30 or so...but I think that will cahnge since the TA will be more inviting to people, esp since 1st year pay is gonna go from $19 to $23 an hour.....PM me if you have any more ?s, the STL commute...you should be good with that, i looked on passrider.com and there are about 20 direct flights a day between the 2 cities, I am commuting from BOS and havent had an issue yet, i go home on weekends, and there are 18-20 direct flights, best of luck..

hey stick, I got between 500-600 hrs and had a King Air gig before coming here to ASA, I never flight instructed, but I feel that working in a crew environment, flying in a diffcult part of the country, (based in Nantucket ) and getting about 200 hrs turbine helped me tremendously, even though i have low time still, will Captains still look down upon that???? just curious what to expect as I emabark on IOE in the coming weeks..I appreciate any advice... thanks in advance.

No captain should look down at that type of experience. Everybody has to start somewhere, and if you can take your qualifications and land an RJ job, the more power to you! Just remember that attitude is everything...have fun but keep your head into the game and be a good team player.

Upgrades are getting quicker here all the time. With just a little bit of simple math it's quite easy to see a Captain bid in 2 years or less. SH recently sent out a memo saying he would lower the requirements to 2000tt for upgrades if he has to.

To prevent FO's from being "leap-froged" in upgrade. Does this mean that when I get the requirements, I cant upgrade because somebody more senior than me has yet to upgrade because he/she doesnt have the requirements yet?
