Thanks! I do appreciate your zeal for our profession, but question your motives or logic with your association with sapa.

Remind me again how does sapa have any leverage? Why would someone who seems fairly intelligent believe that they could do any good with this organization? No flame intended, just trying to understand your logic.

I'm pro female, but I didn't marry every one who dated me.

It isn't that black and white, many believe in unions, but just not at SkyWest right now. That's what I meant by in general pro-union thinkers.

i cant stand that not right now BS, what does that mean?

if not now when? i dont think in the history of aviation there has been a more important time to unionize.

please elaborate on this reasoning why right now you dont need one, but someday it will be the right time.

First off, just the messenger here, I'm just relaying the sentiment that I pick up in the crew room.
But for many SkyWest pilots, they haven't been convinced by ALPA that they can do anything better here than what we already have.
If you asked me the legal protection is very important, and I think we'd be better off in a potential merger with ALPA, but that's distant second to the first point.
For those that will say we're riding on the coat tails of others.... I agree... but I don't see any pilot group out there doing anything for the "greater good" of the industry. It seems to me that each pilot group votes on what's best for themselves, which is to be expected. Keep in mind you're talking to someone who turned down one of the initial classes at GoJets out of respect for ALPA, TSA, and the greater good. (I interviewed at TSA, was offered GoJets) All it got me was a furlough letter from TSA 10 months later.
In short, SkyWest pilots decided 65-35 that ALPA isn't right for us right now, at a later date with a slightly different seniority list, who knows. SkyWest pilots made a decision they thought was right for themselves, and everyone else has done the same.
I TRULY wish, ALPA represented every airline, with one seniority list, with one payscale. I wish ALPA national represented everyone. Unfortunately they don't, and until/unless that happens, each carrier's pilots will continue to vote their own biases, and that's what happened at SkyWest.

I forgot to ellaborate on if not now when.....
if you were to ask the average no voter they would probably respond by saying if new management came in.
Many skywest pilots, pro alpa ones included, like our current management team
