That is exactly right. Mainline is still in the process of scaling back thier domestic flying pawning it off to regionals to fly. Their vision is all long haul international. It would be unprofitable for them to fly these small domestic routes with mainline pilots at mainline rates.
Keep in mind too (and I am still surprised by it) that its not the average economy class passenger than is the big revenue generator for airlines such as Delta, American, United.........its the business and first class passenger long haul. THATS what they are concentrating their efforts on today because THATS what drives $$$$$ to their bottom line. Not a CR7 going from ORD to FWA.

I've come to the conclusion that ya'll are just anti SkyWest...Period. You can feed me the BS that you really, really care about us. Well I believe that about as much as I believe the management propoganda. The difference is, management here is somewhat reliant upon our work. They have nothing to gain by ticking us off and losing flying, while ya'll are just wanting a piece of our flying-pie. Deep down in your oh-so-human hearts you know that's the truth of it.
Lol, yep we are anti skywest. That’s laughable! Wow, I have such I hard time understanding your thought processes. Nice try on presenting us as "anti company" because we want a contract and union services. Look no personal offence but you have yet to establish any point of reason biased on fact. You ramble on with personal beliefs biased solely on your opinion, trying to twist reality to match your views. When you can add to a discussion with fact of why skywest would be better, rather than say we are "anti skywest" then I will give you some creditability.

And plz tell me you write a contract when you buy or sell a house, if not I have one for sale if ya want it, I promise Ill give ya a great deal, but no contracts please.

those of us that were at trans states when the whole gojets thing went down sure know what you mean about how important it is to have a contract. that sure saved us!

Your right, all contracts are worthless... I would suggest you call your cell phone provider and ask that you re-establish your cell service without a bi-lateral contract. And next time you buy a house don’t waist your time on silly contracts and escrow services.. Seriously, I have a house for sale if you want it, great deal, great price, owner financing, and no contract please....

And next time you write a contract you might want to include a provision for alter-ego airlines. I feel your pain with tsa, but I’m sure no one thought management would stoop to that level. Live and learn. The solution is not discontinuing contracts, but writing better ones.....

That says a lot. Nothing against anyone personally, but I get the impression on these boards from SkyWest pilots on the whole, more than any other pilot group, that you guys think your ******* don't stink.

Well said, hahahaha.

Remember, it is not "your" flying. It is United's flying. This industry is not what it used to be because regionals are flying mainline sized aircraft. If mainline flew mainline sized aircraft, this industry would be in a lot better shape. Please don't be selfish. It is better for everyone in the industry if United flies CRJ-700's.
A CRJ-700 is not a mainline sized aircraft. A 737 is a mainline sized aircraft. Unless it has more than 100 seats, it is not mainline.
