What are new hires typically getting? I imagine the 170 goes to those with previous 121 experience and those who upgrade into it.

I think its what they need. I got 170 without 121 experince. Take what ever they give you, its good company with great staff.

It was configured like a Baron but was very straight forward. T/O... climb out then direct to a VOR for a hold... couple turns in holding... then direct to the OM for the full procedure turn ILS followed by a missed ....engine failure on the missed.... eval over.

They will more than likely ask you during your 2 on 1 interview that IF you were offered a job which crew base would be your choice. I was NEVER asked out right which certificate ....just base.

The tests are straightforward. Have your info for the PRIA paper work ready. Our whole group was done by 10 minutes till 1 in the afternoon. I was the last to go to the sim eval and the last to do the HR/Pilot interview. They called me while I was still at the airport with the offer.

Good luck.
I was the first of the 6 to get the SIM and I had 121 experience. Everything you said is true. When I got to the interview, they said the guy who called me made a mistake and I didn't have to do the SIM. Oh well. haha, it took me 20 seconds to realize the engine failed after the go-around. They are looking for procedures. As soon as I did my mixture, prop, throttle, gear up, flaps up, ident, verify, feather, and call atc and tell them what I wanted he said "done." Just looking for procedures.

Obviously you can't finish them all but I would suggest getting through at least 25 of them. One dude who said he was on #19 when the timer went off went home after testing. 25 question technical test, easy. Get gouges of aviationinterviews.com and its pretty spot on. Good luck.
I got 44

They gave me the CHQ and I had 121 experience. I couldn't make the class date because it was 2 days away. I couldn't leave my old job like that. They gave me the next class... S5. I really don't think you can base which certificate on your experience. It's up to them.

44 ....thats unreal.... WOW....

I think in general they try to give you the cert that will get you to the base you want at some point. But certainly what they need is gonna be a priority.

Max.... im with ya brother... with out the feel of the yaw...it took a bit to realize he had failed the right side... like you said though... your the verify / shutdown check....sim over. DECLARE and EMERGENCY...

haha. I was trying to figure out why I couldn't climb. Then I look at the manifold pressure and finally figured it out. Also, when I took off runway 23, instead of going right direct the brickyard vor, I went left. I still got there. He just said fly direct. Plus, my altitude was all over during straight and level. I nailed the procedure part, and the ILS made a nice cross the whole way down. You can definitely make errors. The guy even told me... "I don't even know why we use something like this for interviews... but we do. We're looking for procedures"

On mine they killed my right engine, but the left speaker was on the floor behind the computer so when I verified, Feather and Cut the Mixture, Me and the guy doing my eval thought I'd killed the wrong engine. I was like What Happen, he said I don't know but I know I killed your right engine. Then He got up and noticed the Left speaker on the floor behind the desk. I was like PHEWWW!!!
